Wait, they had a verified run, and submitted slower times after their pb was verified? Were these older runs they forgot to submit? They also may have meant to submit to a different category.
Oh yeah. The new site looks really good. I just checked and it was updated. Hopefully I can see more than 10 runs soon.
I think (but I could be wrong) that they've limited the number of recent runs that appear on the homepage. I have it set so that the max number of runs appear, but right now there's only 10, not 40. I agree that the font is horrible. I also hate how small it is.
What Loansharkjoe did was absolutely not okay at all. He faked a speedrun for a publicity stunt, waited almost a year, and never even told the mods about what he did at all. They only found out because people kept harassing them about it. He also lied in his video, claiming that emulators aren't allowed (they are), claimed that strats he did weren't RTA viable (they were), and also claimed he wanted to help the mods (obviously not).
He found a small game with almost no community at all and abused them for views. I highly recommend reading the forum thread that resulted to actually hear another side.
He also called the mods immature when he got banned, even though the game mods had nothing to do with it (the site mods banned him). He also made two more videos milking the incident.
Also, he says his run should have been THOUROUGHLY examined because it was second place. The problem is, 2nd out of 6 runners isn't necessarily that good. His fake run was almost 2 minutes slower than wr.
I managed to lower my any% to less than a second, but my last dentist visit was exceptionally painful, so now I'm focusing on the 100% category. My pb is 3 minutes.
depends on the community
However, you definitely shouldn't have faked a speedrun at all, even as a joke. It's not funny, and you're wasting the time of the game mods who volunteer their time to protect the integrity of the leaderboard. Your runs will almost certainly be subject to closer inspection whenever you submit.
Pretty sure OP isn't a bot, they've never even posted a link, and bots don't make threads like this.
Anyways, my favorite font is probably Nunito or something similar. Just a normal, easy to read font. Fancy stuff is lost on me.
I think the first speedrun I ever watched was Greenalink's NMSB2 speedrun back in like 2015/2016. Ever since then I was aware of speedrunning, and would often times search up runs of games I played, and I watched Bismuth's smb1 videos when they came out as well. Eventually just decided to try doing a run of a game myself, had fun doing it, so I made an account.
I guess we'll have to wait a week
actually, he could be telling the truth, if its like mc classic dirt%
I didn't think of including this since it doesn't channge the gameplay, but neither does last chance mode (in theory). If someone completes a speedrun of it, I will add it.
I'm pretty sure this thread is a joke.
However, in the case that Laika is right and this person is genuinely lonely, my advice is to get to know the IRL people around you better. This is probably hard to do in a pandemic, but if you have online school or something, make small talk or something when you're in a group, and be participatory. That's the only way to meet new people.
As for this site, most of the people are very helpful, so I'd recommend finding a game you love and being very active in that community.
The best you can do for a per-leaderboard basis is sort by region, but that only works with specific countries on specific games
