I know it hasn't been suggested (and I'm aware there are reasons why) but Texas is a massive state with a TON of stuff to do/venues, and there aren't currently a ton of speedrunning events the entirety of Texas can make it to easily. If not NASA, it would still be cool for there to be a Major in Texas at least sometime DFW/Arlington has all the necessities (and if held in June our Six Flags is open.) The DFW Airport is one of the largest and best airports in the US, and is only about 20mins from Arlington, where they have great hotels and rates. I hope Texas can get some love one year.

Definitely 120 Star, Mario 64 :D the added skill and endurance it takes to get all 120 stars over 0 or 1 is what makes the game (That's just my opinion though, and I still respect runners of 1/0 Star, they just aren't fun for me to watch haha).
Wow really? Its possible on PS? In that case can someone give a quick insight into how to pull off yolo dodge correctly? It stands as the only dodge in Leon A I've never got (have done MO disc I just don't go for it in runs though). Any help would be greatly appreciated, I just have never been able to even get close to pulling it off. I guess I'm looking for how you set it up once entering Blue Hall, what you look for to know if it's a go or not, directions you hold, etc etc
And Allancg, I dont play on Hard bc I play on US PS version. It is a pretty minor time save, but Im currently looking to learn everything in Leon A before I submit a run. Haha
Ughhhh this sucks, I literally have $5.23 to last me til payday (Friday) but I was also planning to buy this exact controller for Christmas, so it's like fuck what do I do?! Tough it out for 4 days broke and risk having needed that $5 for something, or donate again to potentially save $70-80 on buying the Hori myself...being a gamer is tough business.
And I dont have Paypal either Lolman and I can still donate...

So I have to ask my initial question again, if I was to just mash as fast/accurately as possible will that work for every blj, or are there some where you can mash too fast? I'm hoping that since I can mash crazily fast that I can just do my top speed for every blj and assuming I do it right that speed will work for all of them (in 70 and 120 star anyways, I dont plan to play less than 70).

As Blue Yoshi said, I'd recommend just looking up categories for whichever games you love most. I think most people start this way, bc that way you won't get sick of thw game bc it's one of your faves, and you'll be more likely not to just give up the hobby entirely.
Myself personally, I started with Resident Evil 2, bc it's my favorite game as well as my vote for best game of all-time. Been running it for months now and it's still fresh and fun.
Geeez this thread is toxic af haha. But avoiding all that, a game I've started checking out recently is Turok 2, and it's essentially all IL/basically segmented at this point in time bc the majority of active runners for that game choose to do IL instead for some reason.
So, to summarize, IL/segmented is still alive, you just have to know where to look is all. For some games it's most popular, not least popular/a totally dead option.
Like I said, I just wanted to see it, definitely don't plan on doing it haha. If I get a clean Murder Hall the last thing I wanna do is take unnecessary risks! Lol. Currently sketchy Murder Halls are what's keeping me out of the PS top 4 and from submitting a run. :/ Idek if the yolo dodges work on PS US version, given the slightly buffed zombie aggression.
I mean I can pull off every dodge in the scenario with the exception of the yolo dodge, I just dont even attempt it bc going around only loses like 1.5-2 seconds. Well and the MO disc dodge too, I don't do that either bc I have the extra ammo so why not lol. I just wanted to see this dodge in action bc I heard somewhere that ppl have done it. Sounded awesome.

Well that's the thing, once putting the cables aside getting a Japanese 64 was the cheapest option available actually. I could either go down to the retro game store and pay an exorbitant mark-up (the store closest to me apparently thinks their stuff is special lol) or get a Japanese one off ebay and just buy the hookups seperate. Also, from what I've seen Japanese games seem to run a tad cheaper than US ones, for whatever reason.
