ok, i just used caps because it was fairly obvious what the situation was since the last 10 or so posts were about it.
yeah alright i sorta worked that out but cheers for that
Anyway, I think that future run sections should be based on game time. There is quite some lag in SuperTux anyway, and I've also seen it go too quickly so that real time is quicker than game time. Until this is fixed, game time should be used for everything.
There is no game time for single segment run… Plus that would mean no splits and no easy way to mesure progression.
ingame time is good for individual levels but single segment runs on the whole game should use real time. This is what is done for most games.
by reverse do you mean the videos you do where you reverse your runs? not the biggest problem you could have.
<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ckbl5XTfxuA&t=6m19s">This</a> is an example.
The video is shorter than it says the level time said, and both the start and end are shown.
No, it proves that the player is moving to quickly! The fps counter is stuck on 68. I've never seen anyone else with that value. It is a bug with SuperTux, and game time should ALWAYS be used because it is actually based on what happens.
Well it’s really not how it’s usually seen in speedrun. We use the game time when it’s accurate otherwise real time is the reference. It does not matter if the game is running at 68 FPS if it does so for everyone. Many speedrun techniques relies on exploiting the game bugs.
I think it will be solved when the issue in SuperTux is fixed. Tux was simply going too fast.
