Here's how you get a fast time in SOR 2.

1. Instead of playing on console play it on virtual console or emulator where it runs smooth as butter.

2. Set your lives as high as they will go and put your troll face on.

3. Go full send running through the game pulling as many badies as you possibly can get on screen.

4. Run around spamming specials all over the place.

5. Make sure you die at least once on all the hard parts and land in the right spot so when you respawn you get a cheap backbreaker.

6. If you are dying a lot you can burn a continue before stage 6 and 7 ends to gain extra lives you can use from the stage end point bonus. This strat is mostly for mania. The other difficulties are lol easy mode.

7. Always be aware of where you will probably get knocked down at on the hard parts so you can get up invincible and get off a cheap backbreaker.

8. It's pointless to move regular with max because he's too slow. The fastest way to move is with thunder tackles. The second fastest way to move is with slides. The third is jumping or using grapples. Occasionally you might want to die just so you can skip a health pick up and thunder tackle quickly through the next part.

9. Health and extra lives sometimes are a waste of time unless you don't think you have enough lives to make it on mania. Unless the pick up is on your route don't go for it.

10. On the slanty parts it's faster to ride the bottom of the screen to scroll. It's also hilarious on console when the game lags so much it won't even render your character.

11. Besides some cheap kills you can get off on enemies as soon as they drop in and certain boss loops you can use SOR 2 is so random most of the game is just improv. It's really awesome how you'll never get the exact same game twice. So you remember the boss loops, you remember the spawns, you remember the routes, and then you just practice your improv until you "git gud".
