Beginner's Guide to Heroes Story! (Any%/Under 11-12 minutes IGT)
Updated 1 year ago by arielus05

Hello! I've noticed a lack of times that are below 11-12 minutes IGT for Heroes Story, since now with the skips and strategies we have, it's now fairly simple and easy to do so. In this guide, I will show how you can get a decent time on Heroes Story with about a few days to a week worth of practice! Thanks to niPin for checking some of the information here and giving me feedback.

Megalo Station:

To get under 11 minutes, you don't need to do any skips for this course. Phanpy's Heroes Story run shows excellently how you should drive Megalo Station . You should aim for a 2:16 or under in your run.

Botanical Kingdom:

This also doesn't need any skips and Phanpy's Heroes Story run again shows how you should drive the track , and a 3:10 or under would suffice. If you want to save more time, there is a almost 100% consistent skip in the track that saves 10 seconds if done in laps 2 or 3. There's a tutorial on it if you want to save some extra time.

MeteorTech Premises:

This will be the first track where you do skips to get a time under 11-12 minutes, and the rest of the tracks after this need you to learn skips as well. Thankfully, this is, in my opinion, one of the most consistent skips in the game so once you get the alignment, it should be easy. After you respawn, you would be put at the section after where one normally does a gravity dive, and this is where a strat comes into play. There’s a wall-run section to the right a little ahead after you respawn, but normally you wouldn’t have enough GP to gravity control onto it. Thankfully, niPin found a strat where you can simply gravity control when you are going up the ramp, and then you will be on the wall-run section with +30 GP and get another +30 GP from the capsules. This is what allows us to do it 3/3. You repeat this for laps 2 and 3, but your tricks on the first ramp have to be S ranked or higher to have enough GP to do the skip again. This is much better to show than to explain, so I will link the part of my run where you can understand clearly what I mean . A time under 2:30 is what you should get if you do it all three laps.

Aquatic Capital:

In this track, this is how the route is. Lap 1 - Skip, Lap 2 - Drive Normally, Lap 3 - Skip. Heroes Story doesn’t do it all three laps because there isn’t enough GP to do it again, so driving normally lap 2 helps get all the GP back while still being fast. Fonsi’s video shows the most safe way to do the glitch and consistently getting a lap count, so refer to that when trying to attempt it. For lap 2, you go to the top path after the first ramp, and make sure to collect enough rings to get the Air Ride power-up before exiting the slide. After that, you go to the right path to go in the fly rings and proceed into your lap normally (for simplicity sake, I won’t explain the Gamecube Controller only skip that saves 13ish seconds in this section since that isn’t needed, but shows that). After the gravity dive section, you have to fly into one of the fly rings and then finish the lap normally. Lastly, lap 3 is the same as lap one. A time of 1:34 or under is good enough for Heroes Story.

Gigan Rocks:

This is/was a major choke point in my runs, even though the skip is pretty simple to do and learn, so I advise being pretty careful while doing this glitch in a run. Again, Fonsi’s video shows how you should align and do the skip in a safe manner . Aiming your gravity control to the middle of the roof, making sure that you go over the top of the roof, and making sure you go over the invisible wall are the best three tips to not fail this skip during a run. If you have problems trying to turn around and do a gravity control before you go on the roof or just want to practice the second part specifically, follow this video . The respawn helps since you have a perfect alignment to do the skip and can get almost 100% consistent pretty quickly. A 0:45 or under is what a solid 3 lap time in a run would be.

Crimson Crater:

The last track in Heroes Story and is also a big choke point in runs. All three laps require you to do a skip, while lap 3 is where you need to collect extra GP to do it in that lap. Lap 1 skip is different from laps 2 and 3 since you spawn on a different part of the track, but what you do is go near the right edge of the beginning ramp, turn 45 degrees to the left, then gravity dive while holding left until the game stops sending you downwards. Let go of the gravity dive once Sonic is about to pass the finish line, and you respawn on the main finish line of the track . Then for lap 2, you must go forward a little bit and then turn around and gravity control to land on top of the finish line. There is a line on the finish line roof, and you must be slightly to the left of that and must face to the right 90 degrees to aim directly at the orange arrow panel across from it. Gravity dive for about a second then let go, and you should respawn a bit behind the finish line, so just drive to it and it should count the lap . For lap 3, you must drive to the first ramp and get a SS trick or better so you have enough GP to do the skip. When trying to land, hold backwards so you stop completely, turn around, then gravity control up and you should respawn behind the first ramp. Drive backwards to the finish line and then the game should respawn you at it. Do the same thing as how you did the skip in lap 2 except when you gravity dive, it will be shorter due to not having enough GP to do it all the way through. So when the gravity dive ends, you do a gravity control to the left for about a second, and if everything goes to plan, it should either respawn you a little before the finish line or respawn and count the lap. That is how you finish your Heroes Story run . A time of 1:15 or under is what you should get.

In total with every time you should aim for, you can get at least a 11 min and 30 second time. Hopefully this helps you achieve that!

General Tips: -Doing a quick Gravity Control after respawning is faster since the acceleration of Default Gear is pretty poor. This saves over a second. -Making many mistakes during runs is typical while trying to speedrun for the first time, so don’t restart right away once you make them. -If you want clarification on something or want extra help, you can gladly contact me on Discord: aRiEl (FDragon)#6156
