A list of things that rely on luck and a few tricks (Easy difficulty)
Updated 6 months ago by Dr_RNG

This guide aims to help those that are new to this game. This is only for the easy difficulty!

Let's start by going over some stuff you can't control. There's several things in this game that rely on RNG. They include the following:

  • The Puss in Boots Tuna Fish item spawn location (has 3 possible locations)

Location 1 is the best (the same location where the candy cane, sunglasses and magazine can spawn) Location 2 is okay but loses some time (behind the rock on the bridge) Location 3 is absolutely horrible and loses a ton of time (on top of the structure before the bridge)

  • The "Catch that Cat" level's tree patterns (by "edge of the screen", I mean whichever side has the path on it)

The best pattern is the one where Puss in Boots is already close to the edge of the screen (less waiting). The worst pattern is the one where Puss in Boots is far from the edge of the screen (makes you wait longer). (Bad RNG example) (Good RNG example)

  • The "Get the Potion!" minigame

Bottom right is the best possible luck. Bottom left is still good. Having a potion be on the top loses a few seconds. (Good RNG example)

  • The "Cure the Dragon" boss fight

Good word RNG can make the fight really short/require less movement.

(An example of RNG starting out pretty good before becoming kind of bad)

And now the unskippable cutscenes:

  • Any "new power!" cutscene (opening any treasure chest that isn't the one with the key from "Castle Sneak" in it)
  • The "After him!" cutscene in "Forest Search"
  • The cutscenes before and after the "Get the Potion!" minigame
  • Several cutscenes in "Lost in the Haunted Forest" (the fog one, the log one, walking across the drained river)

With all of that out of the way, there's a lot of time that you can save just by having really clean gameplay.

  • Button mashing through cutscenes (or pressing the exit button followed up by the enter button in cases like the Chess board where it seems unskippable but can be skipped with the quit menu)
  • Avoiding getting caught on walls (the hardest part of the run)
  • Avoiding enemies entirely (mostly just in "Castle Sneak" and "Lost in the Haunted Forest")
  • Cutting corners on the platforms in "Dragon's Castle Showdown"
