Separation of Standard / Tuned classes

Hello I noticed the times submitted in level leaderboard are achieved with both Standard and Tuned cars, in the same category. I know few people play this game, and fewer people even care about this, but if we want this leaderboard to be consistent, I think there ought to be separate categories for Standard and Tuned. The reason for asking this: I personally don't care about tuned cars, i just want to get good with the game's standard cars. I assume other people playing this game do as well. Times achieved with tuned cars will always be lower than standard times, so mixing these into one leaderboard makes no sense. It's easy to tell them appart from the video proof. Top right corner has a small coloured square. Blue is standard, orange is tuned.

What do you think?

I believe you can't use tuned cars in championship mode, in any version of the game. The issue i mentioned about making separate categories for standard and tuned only applies to the level leaderboard, which is the time attack mode.

What you're thinking about, I believe, is a whole other issue: The fact that times achieved on home versions (Saturn, PC) and the arcade original are mixed in the championship leaderboard. These times, too, shouldn't be mixed because the in-game times are so obviously different between home versions and the arcade. For exemple, the japanese runner who did an almost flawless run on arcade cabinet (CUREPUNK, current 3rd best time) is a whole 5 seconds behind the best time achieved on PC. This shows pretty clearly that in-game times are too different between home versions and arcade, and should be different categories as well.

The Saturn port was developed from scratch, and recreated the arcade cabinet's original as faithfully as possible, but not being a direct port, it's easier to understand where the timer discrepancies are coming from. The PC version is a port of the Saturn game, so the times should be equivalent, even though some people claim otherwise. The PS2 version (japan only) is a direct port of the arcade original.

In my opinion, for championship mode, categories should be:

  • Saturn / PC
  • Arcade / PS2

But as I said, this is another issue, and as such it probably should have its own thread.

What do you call special car? Tuned cars or the Lancia Stratos? In championship mode, you can't select tuned cars. It's impossible.

Oh i see. I guess it behaves like the Stratos from the PC and Saturn versions, but does not feature the Stratos' polygonal model and merely uses one of the standard cars' model. I understand, and I agree with you on making a separate leaderboard for the special car.

edit: i guess this isn't true. Special car seems to be another thing altogether according to user SEGARALLY

You're efficient! I didn't think my request would've been taken into action so fast! Nice work separating times into different leaderboards.

I'll do my best to contribute some runs
