Rule tales 9

hello I come to you to speak about the rule of the tale 9. It ends when we return the skull to the order of souls in the rules. Now the real end of the tale, where the quest book disappears from our boat and we get the end gold, is the death of the gold hoarder. Why did you put an end to "the sale of the skull of the gold order"?

I also realised this, the gold hoarder skull is a bonus but not actually part of the tale. I didn't personally set the rule, but I think it's because time always ends on a turn-in. Maybe it's difficult to determine when to end time? Would it be when the gold hoarder pops or is there a pop-up saying he's dead? I wouldnt mind retiming current runs if we set a new rule for when time actually ends.

I ask this question because taking the boat back to bring back the skull to the galleon is a run killer. you can go from 4m to 8m on a bad wind (especially since it is probably the only tale where the journey time by morrow-shore of gold boat does not change)

For me the gold horder death pop up could be the end timer because there is no interaction to do to trigger the end kinematics (edit: there is no pop up but when it makes the movements of its death the skull appears on screen. we can consider that as the end). https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/655347128817942558/691215238967853056/gold.jpg

So do you think time should be as soon as you can see the gold hoarder's skull? Or as soon as it has been picked up because that's easier to measure. The main difference would be the range you want to kill him from. I agree that the long sail at the end feels unnecessary.

I'm not against taking it in hand to define the end. but how to retime the previous run? we can also stop the timer when the gold order disappears completely. It is the same

I'll just watch the old runs and time them myself, then edit the times, don't worry. It could even be as simple as timing from the new end to the old end and subtracting that time. If it sounds good to your crew I can change time to end when the Gold hoarder explodes during his death animation, then he can be killed from any distance.

it's good for me

I would just watch the videos at .25 speed both where the skull is picked up and the beginning of the run. Then just figure out the times from there.

New times are up along with new rules. For the glitchless (Normal) category you cant see the gold hoarder explode in the top run so I used when I heard him explode. I recommend watching the gold hoarder during your runs.

Sorry I'm late to the discussion. I agree selling the gold hoarder skull isn't really a part of the quest. It is only needed for more completionist commendations (same as finding all journals).

I think the end was that way for consistency since most of the Tall Tales ends on giving an item to an npc (with the exception of TT7 and TT9).

In my opinion, the most accurate way to determine when a Tall Tales ends is when the popup "Tall Tales end" appear on screen. If we consider it the equivalent of credits then the final time is on the action leading up to this.

Now for TT9 specifically, my proposal for final time is when lethal damage is dealt to the gold hoarder as there is a very obvious audio cue (and the skull instantly appear on the ground). Since everything happening after the final hit on the boss is scripted and should be constant.

EDIT: Well... when the gold hoarder explode isn't that bad either. I like it better actually.
