@MehisSpeedun What program are you using to record, and how do you have it set up? It seems it's not capturing your timer, most likely because you haven't assigned a capture to record LiveSplit.
Make sure that real time for every single run is blank.
The site doesn't make series by game developers anymore, nor is it making new series at all.
Welcome to the site! You can submit game requests here, but if you choose to do so, I would highly expect this game to be rejected. It's not really possible to speedrun a high score game, for starters (check out other sites like Cyberscore instead for those) and speedrun.com is limiting which games can be requested, so a generic snake game on the web isn't going to pass notability requirements.
On the topic of easier verification of runs, could us moderators have an "Edit run" button right between and the same size as the "Verify run" and "Reject run" buttons? For leaderboards which require manual retiming (or any other form of edits on a regular basis) it makes little sense to hide the editing feature behind an extra click, while giving space to the unused "Verify run" button.
Alternate time schemes is an idea that's been floated before in the feedback thread. Stating it again there won't necessarily help, I'm sure the mods are considering it in some form, but since we don't have any way of knowing the status of it without annoying site moderators, we're left in the dark.
(Someone recently floated the idea of a site features spreadsheet which would get rid of this issue. That's a good idea...)
I'll comment on the milliseconds implementation: it's clear to moderators who go through this that many runners either aren't aware of the distinction between deciseconds and milliseconds or don't expect speedrun.com to add a leading 0. Either way, they end up having an incorrect mental model, leading to more frustration for moderators. The point that the current implementation is technically correct is moot because people who understand this statement are the ones capable of adding the leading zero themselves. Most people expect the time digits to be filled in continuously as displayed on a leaderboard, i.e., left to right (23 -> .230). The implementation many of us are suggesting (which was formerly implemented on this site) accounts for how people see this. The current implementation treats each section (h, m, s, ms) as its own input (23 -> .023), which is fine for two digits like minutes, where the leading zero is assumed, but not with milliseconds, where it is not.
@EmeraldAly That's why I mentioned Yua or Avidemux--so you don't have to upload videos after downloading them. They're more consistent than SPRT anyway.
Most games do not allow runners to pause their recording in the middle of their run. You could take a break, but the time and your recording should be going. That said, ask directly for Minecraft.
we need to gain some ground so speedrun will list it as an official game
Have you submitted the game to the site at the appropriate page?
@EmeraldAly Not that I know of, with those I'm forced to rip the video and retime it in Yua or Avidemux.
@RealAlphaGamer See the first stickied forum post on that leaderboard, which states:
Due to the difficult nature of maintaining two separate but accurate leaderboards we will no longer be accepting runs submit to speedrun.com that haven't already been submit and verified at megamanleaderboards.net. You may still submit runs to this board, but know that they will not be verified here until they are first verified on our primary leaderboard at mmlb. If a run submit here is not submit to megamanleaderboards.net within two weeks it will be rejected with a link pointing you to the proper place to submit. When submitting at megamanleaderboards.net, be sure to fill out the speedrun.com username portion of your profile to help us make sure that your runs are linked to your proper srcom account. Any questions or concerns can be directed to the mods either here in the forum, or via discord. Thanks for your cooperation.
This is in the category rules as well. The moderators should have been more direct, but the information is all there.
@The_squerils_return The magic of Unicode. I'll try the zero-width space below, which shouldn't show up even with highlighting text.
@Garsh That's been brought up before: the consensus is that developing an app takes too many resources for too little gain, especially when the mobile website is an option (if not the best one). I believe there are unofficial apps on Android.
