If you jump into one of the bugs from below, when you land back on the ground you'll get popped up into the air, which skips having to wait around for them to run into you. It saves at least a second in level 1, and can definitely save more time throughout the run.
@YUMmy_Bacon5 A slowrun is a run that is intentionally done to finish with a slow time, it's not a slow speedrun. I would accept a speedrun that takes a long time as long as the person doing it was trying to go fast.
@Camcorder I think that would work if it's only for the game/community in question. If I ban someone from the "Mobility" community, they should still be able to submit runs to any other game, and their stream should show up unless they're running Mobility.
If you care about the "likes received" statistic, you REALLY need to go outside.
Obviously the site is not improved yet because of all the bugs. This is why I explicitly stated, in my post, that once the bugs are ironed out I think the site will be better. There are a boatload of new features, bugfixes, and QoL improvements. Aesthetically, this is the best the site has looked since Elo bought it, the leaderboards are bigger, and everything has been redesigned.
Also, the site is only running slowly because the update JUST released and there's a ton of traffic. The devs have said that the site will be back to running at normal speed soon.
This update is great, it's just super buggy and untested at the moment. Once they get everything ironed out over the next few days, I actually think this will make the site better.
People are just used to getting upset at everything Elo does. They've finally done something good by listening to community feedback and completely rebuilding the site.
Lint has a lot of really interesting strategies, and the speed glitch in particular is fascinating. All of the glitches and strats in the game have been archived in detail by the WR holder, Laxxius, and I'm sure he could probably find dates for them. I really like this game and it would be cool to see a video about it one day.
In the additional notes section, you can include links to videos of other people's runs in order to show that people are interested in running the game, which might increase the odds of it getting accepted. But if you want to fill out a game request, you do need to have a video of a run that you yourself did.
I put "poorly drawn cat" into dall-e mini and picked one I thought was funny
I have always had terrible PFPs, before this one it was literally just a screenshot of my homework because I didn't have a picture to use so I just chose a random one I had saved.
This is such a stupid thread lmao. I can't believe I'm seeing myself compared to people like Tyron, Vertic, and Niftski.
Compiling threads like this is pointless. It's just going to end up being a popularity contest, and it's super toxic to compare people in this way. It's impossible to objectively decide something like this, so stop trying.
ANYWAYS, I think a better direction for this thread would be to just shout out a bunch of talented speedrunners in the community. @Touval is one of the greatest glitch hunters of all time. @SHiFT is a Spongebob legend. @Laxxius is one of the most dedicated speedrunners out there, his Lint world record is super impressive and almost nobody knows about it. @Suigi has already cemented himself as one of the greatest SM64 players of all time, despite being relatively new in the community. @susuwi is a speedrunner who managed to hold over 100 Mobility world records simultaneously by sweeping the IL leaderboard. @Facu28 is insanely good at TASing and speedrunning. @Mageism is another speedrunner with tons of extremely optimized webgame runs.
I've lost a lot of motivation to do speedruns lately, but my long term goals right now are to get a 6:2X in Mobility and a 2:0X in .S
I also want to start making youtube videos about speedrunning, but I always seem to lose motivation. I have so many good ideas but it's hard to get started. Hopefully this is the year I finally finish one.
I didn't even notice that there was an any% category now. It should be deleted imo.
