I wonder what would happen if an inventory were emptied to 0, the game was saved, hard reset, and the glitch tried on fresh a fresh ram load.

The Wii VC version freezes the entire console iirc when I tested it.

That still leaves the PS2/3/4/PSP, Xbox360/One, and Switch versions to test out (though theoretically, the PS3/X360 should run the same as should the Switch/PS4/XBOne).

The reason the GBA version doesn't crash is because I believe the ROM itself is different (to accommodate the size of the GBA), since that version is not a straight port unlike the others. While almost every other version is a straight port ROM that plays right to a built-in emulator, the GBA version was rebuilt along with the other two games (which is why using the duplication glitch in PS2 locks the game as well and which is why the damage calculation/evasion rate in PS1 is much higher).

Still will be interesting to see what happens and if there is another version out there that would create an inventory underflow. I feel like there's something we're missing with this game that could break it open for the non-GBA versions. I mean, have we tried this out with every possible item that can be used in battle? Would an offensive item like the Force Sword (I think that casts Foi) do the same thing as a Monomate? (then again, Force Sword is reusable so it might not create the effect we are looking for).

quite the undertaking you took there.

leaves me to think of how to separate categories now as a true Any% is a mere seconds now.

Perhaps I should revive Relic% again for a shorter run, though even with this data, that would be a rather uninteresting run.

When it comes out in the US I plan on running it, but it will have to have a separate board because of the 4x Meseta/XP buff the game gives... not sure of too many other details, but I do know someone did a longplay of the JP release and beat it under 5 hours with Alis at Level 24... so it should only take a couple of hours in a speedrun setting.

the only disadvantage comes when you have to reset the game due to bad RNG or something similar. On console or emulator, you have a button that can just quickly give you a soft reset... on one of those collection compilations, you have a menu to go through to reset... other than that, it should all be the same.

Lol. That Demi video looks like it calls up an anti-piracy check? Maybe? I got similar issues when getting Seth early when I tested out a rando theory.

With the macro glitch, Rune looks like he's going to be more OP than thought. Get him to cast Sar or GiSar and the route changes entirely... if it can. Hell, Saner alone is huge.

Very nice find. The thing I have found when working on the randomizer that trying to do events out or order without the right flags set (i.e. getting seth before going to birth valley or getting rune in ladea tower before getting him in molcum) seems to mess a lot of things up. That being said, there is still a lot of potential even so to skip a ton of parts in dungeons, like the air castle.

Definitely will have to get more testing done. This could potentially get to the rykros warp in piata.

I didn't find the formula myself. I stumbled upon it (shown in the link) and basically just organized into one spot to hopefully read better.

as far as enemy damage formula, I don't recall off the top of my head. if it is anything like in Phantasy Star II (formulas are a bit similar), then the Weapon Damage in the first formula is just the enemy damage stat used again. don't quote me on that though.

this was something I brought up last night in discord as well, about things like experience influencing what happens. I'm also getting reports that different emulators give different results. I'm going to test out the Wii version slightly later today.

Though the fact that you got Megid to appear in a Macro is sweet. I am curious what sort of other skills/techs can come of this and how badly it breaks the game. also makes me wonder if insta-death skills can override the game's coding to kill bosses in one shot (unlikely, but depending on what this glitch can do, it is possible it could shift byte values to the point where a bosses, normally immune to the ability, would be guaranteed to be hit by it).

"the game keeps track of the number of opened windows....normally when it reaches 0, you regain control of the characters (technically there's a mode switch) however when you press Cancel in that exact frame, the game calls the destroy window subroutine and decrements the counter and it becomes negative unfortunately everything starts becoming too random to discover what can be done via code; I think it's faster to just mess around."

"so I found out there are 2 other windows where that bug happens; I'm not sure if you get slightly different results if you do it from different windows anyway the other 2 windows are the BUTTONS option and the Skill list in the Macro for the Skills, the bug is done after you select a Skill for a character"

I've got Lory looking into it in the Assemby portion to see what is causing it. Mor_mot discovered that the glitch can be used to save anywhere, which can be handy but nothing too game-breaking so far. Newer runners I can see using it a bit to save before Triplets, Lashiec, DF2, or PD, but experienced runners with good times won't have much use for it unless they are ahead of their splits by a huge amount.

Using it for Macros, however... now this could be interesting, especially if you can technically get a 6th character in there casting other abilities. But, one thing at a time.

I wouldn't call it feasible as it would require a ton of resets, but it is possible to get the scepter at the starting point without moving.

Hello. I would like to be added as Mod for King's Bounty for the Sega Genesis (https://www.speedrun.com/Kings_Bounty). I have been informed today that another runner has been trying to get a run verified for 2 months and has not had any response. The current mod has no listed methods of communication and has not made any posts or runs in over two years.

it took me a while too to get mine submitted a couple of years back. knowing this though, I did just apply to Mod this game. it's not an active game, but I am usually around and not difficult to reach.

what category did you run? I've been looking a long time to see this game see more hype.

Is the Continue Option/Code allowed to resume a run after a loss, or is it considered a RIP run after a loss?

The question has been brought up as the category is quite a bit longer and the fact that there is already a segmented run on there.

Is this something we want to continue to do for a glitchless run of the game? I know other games and categories such as FFX Nemesis are still done single-segmented iirc, but in this community, which direction do we want to go?
