To Omar : Category Extensions aren't on speedrun.com because of the risk of dividing a playerbase that's already not that big/active. This is a decision taken by Lafungo after I reached out to him about this a while back, that I agree with, and that is highly unlikely to be reversed anytime soon.
To Undov : pretty much repeating what I told Harv in my first post, but suggesting a new category is useless if you don't do a run yourself. If someone is ever interested, there's a big chance they've already had the idea by themselves.
To Harv : GG, but in which category, and do you have a video for it ?
Rule of thumb for new categories : if you have an idea for a category you want added, first DO A RUN, then we will add it in the Category Extensions Google Doc, and eventually if it gets popular enough there we will add it on here.

Why is there even a Real time column on IL boards to begin with ? There has to be a way to get rid of that one for the boards on which it doesn't matter, right ?

A French runner named UnderscorePoY made a Spearow+ route for Crystal (not Kenya) and got a 3:40 with it : It enters Goldenrod at level 17 (so 7 levels above Kenya), and loses 14 minutes to the current Crystal WR between Whitney and Red. Considering the 7-level deficit, even accounting for the possible optimisations to the route (and for the small differences between Crystal and Gold/Silver), there is absolutely no way you can go faster with Kenya than with the current route...
Just consistency. + It's not like it adds an accessibility problem since all languages are available (as opposed to Gen 5 and older)

Yeah, on top of being expensive af 3DS capture cards are basically indefinitely out of stock so...
But we accept any video quality as long as it's good enough to let us see what's going on in the game, so just pointing a camera at your top screen (bottom screen isn't even needed) is enough. And just a reminder that only really good times are required to provide video evidence (anything under 1:23:00 in All Cups, and the time limit for other categories can be found in the rules of these categories), so you may not even need any of this to have your runs verified ^^
I mean, you can't legally play Emerald on a 3DS, so I'm not sure where you're going with that
Since it's completely independant to the story, there probably won't be a category split, unless you can catch something crazy in the new areas that beats the game faster than current routes (since you'll be able to go there whenever you want after you first got to the Wild Area)

Instead, that IS fair, because it makes it so that no runner loses or saves time compared to others based on which language they choose. And it also makes notes usable by everyone without having to change the name of the Pokémon/moves/items/whatever, so I really don't get why you're complaining here.
Plus it's not like the cartridges still come in only one language, every single cartridge has all available languages now (it's like that since XY came out back in 2013).
And if the issue is that you want to be able to understand the dialogues and the story, then I'm afraid you don't really understand what speedrunning means...
Hello everyone,
We got a run submitted earlier today, that had video proof recorded with the NTR hack, which made us realize that although we've been saying for years that recording that way was not allowed, we never made a formal statement about it.
So there it is : Submitting a run completed while recording your 3DS game footage using NTR is not allowed, due to inconsistencies in load times. This includes submitting these runs without video proof.
For those who would like to submit their runs with video (whether it's to comply with video requirement rules or for personal preference) and think NTR is their only option, please know that we accept any video recorded with anything you have, as long as we can decently see what's going on in the top screen for the whole run. So we're not preventing you from submitting with video evidence, we're just making sure that the competition is fair between all runners !
