After two years of playing various Red Ball games, categories and even random hacks, I have finally claimed a main category world record to my name. It is the culmination of a month of grinding Red Ball 4 Volume 2 glitchless, which along with Red Ball 1 has turned into one of my favorite categories in the series.

Over Incredi's previous WR of 5:47, this run incorporates a massive timesave in 14, made easier with a 4 frame perfect setup found by Starline, that saves about 6 seconds. With this strategy, I knew I only needed to be close with Incredi's run through 14, nail the strategy, then close out a rather difficult boss fight, and I would have the record. The run also incorporates a few smaller strategies, mainly in levels 3, 5, 7, and 11, that largely serves to make timesaves easier to pull off (though in the case of 5, it does save a second).

The run itself isn't perfect. 2 seconds can be saved with the walljump at the start of 10, and 2 more seconds can be saved with a cleaner 7. On top of this, strategies such as resetless 3, a cycle save in 4, resetless 7, a walljump in 9, the 13 IL strat, and a boss carry setup can be used to push the run to 5:3x. 5:2x is possible if every remotely RTA viable strategy is executed to near perfection, but such a time is almost certainly a long ways off.

Regardless, I will stop grinding the category for the time being, and I have no doubt that runners such as Incredi and Lombre will continue to push the time further.
