Regarding the ToD Discount

So recently the topic came to my head of using the ToD save data discount in ACIT runs.

The discount is automatically activated if ToD game data ulitility is found in the PS3 even if the PS3 user has no ToD save data at all. Once this happens all the weapon prices are severely reduced/cut in half (Zurkon costs 4000 instead of 8000, Buzz Blades cost 24,000 instead of 48,000, Groovitron costs 11,000 instead of 22,000).

And because of this it's possible to buy these weapons early and level them up more, such as buying Zurkon in Vorselon 1, and getting the Buzz Blades in Vorselon 2 which ends up getting them to V5 early.

Deleting ToD save data can be annoying. Deleting the data itself isn't hard, but in the case of disc, it removes the ToD install from the console and so you have to reinstall ToD every time you want to play it. Some other people with the digital version have had the discount not show up at all even though the ToD digital version is always there.

The reasons I originally wanted to ban it is because

  1. all the other R&C games on the PS2 prohibit the use of weapon discounts using save files from other games
  2. supposedly some SDA oldbois decided it should be banned right from the start (i haven't found proof of this)

Because of the potential for exploiting it in runs there are three possible outcomes: -Allow the discount in runs -Ban the discount -Allow the discount but make it so that you can't buy weapons any earlier than you could without the discount

Feel free to leave your thoughts.

Something I've noticed (and can't really test due to not having disc version) is that the PSN version of ToD doesn't give the discount. Despite having game data AND save data, I have never received the discount in ACiT. It's convenient, because deleting the game data of the PSN ToD would require I need to redownload the game anytime I wanted to play it instead of ACiT providing it had the discounts.

In regards to doing runs with the discount, I don't think runs with the discount enabled should be disqualified, but I think active use of the discount should be disallowed. As long as the people buy the weapons at the same time as people without the discount, and have enough, or at least close enough bolt count to the intended amount, the runs should be allowed. This way people don't need to deal with the hassle of reinstalling ToD, but they don't need to worry about having the discount in ACiT.

TL;DR: Runs with the discount enabled should be allowed providing the runner pretends the discount isn't applied.
