When to start the time?

Ok now, the rule "everything after the reset must be shown in the video" is a new thing, we can discuss about keeping the runs because verified before the rule was added or just reject them now, or apply the rule only for top times. but this can be done later depending on where we will start the timer after this discussion.

I'm in for retiming EVERY RUN and start the timer when gaining control on level 4, that would mean ignore the first 3 levels done by players that didn't skip them. I'm in for retiming EVERY RUN and start the timer when you do your first click on the game, this would remove a lot of runs from the leaderboard, the one @marc2427 mentioned. I would need to mute the game esternally to save time but that's fine for me. I'm open for new Ideas but don't ask me to enter level 1.

I updated the rule to:

Timing starts when you press the first button in the game, either START, OPTIONS, GALAXY MAP or LEVEL 1. Timing ends when the cutscene on level 65 appears on the screen. Level 4 must be unlocked after you start the timer. You must reset your game data before starting the run, everything after the reset must be shown in the video.

I hope you agree with this definition, I re-timed the runs that started the timer later adding those extra seconds. I gave a grade of flexibility for runs that "die a lot", since unlocking level 4 only takes a fraction of a second and I don't really want to remove runs from the leaderboard that were previously accepted.

Let me now what you think.

Oh no I will DESTROY your time not just slightly take the WR :P

Anyway, maybe you're right, let's just keep PLAY (I meant that with start) and OPTIONS (you can't really time the difference between OPTIONS and INFO because it's like few frames, but if you want to mute ok there's a difference, I personally mute externally now). Galaxy map is unlocked by just going into the INFO, while Level 1 into the galaxy map it's the same as PLAY.

We will apply the rules to every new run, while old runs (alredy re-timed) will stay into the leaderboard.

I just want to point out that as you say "Muting is also something you can press, but it does not affect the gameplay, obviously."... well muting is part of the gameplay as it is going to see the credits, since what we are talking about in this game that does make a difference between deathless bonkless runs it's JUST and ONLY the menuing.

No we are not starting the timer with a head start we are finishing the game faster. I'm also talking for current 2° place run on the leaderboard, who does not enter level 1. The old rules are incompatible with that.

BUT... what if we start the timer pressing the INFO button, and you can re-time your run, it would only be a fraction of a second faster but at that point the comparison between the runs would have the same starting point.

Do you agree with that?

Italy

Agreed. Your run has been re-timed to a 10:53.5 (-0.60 sec). Now the competition is ON !
