So, I've watched GDQ and some streamers for years and finally want to try my hand at this, but have some crazy basic questions that I can't find directly answered:
What all is required for me to submit a run? Just a video? Does it have to have been live-streamed? Does there need to be an official timer on the screen, like the recommended ones I see under resources?

Yes, just a clear video of the run is sufficient in most cases. however, some games may require you to use livesplit for the "autosplitter" feature, this feature automatically starts and stops your timer at predefined points, e.g. stopping the time when the game is in a loading screen. in those cases you would need to provide both the gameplay and the livesplit feed.
The run doesn't have to be livestreamed, this would just make it impossible to submit for a majority of people.
