Question about emulators

Would running the game on an emulator be legal? I want to run some categories, yet i don't have a capture card. Allowing emulators would also make the categories more acsessible.

Emulators are banned. If you have a phone or a camera capable of pointing at your TV that's going to be your best bet for recording. I will ask Jal to put that Emulator is banned more clearly in the game rules.

Thank you for the fast reply, i'll see what i can do!

What is the reason for banning Emulators? I can imagine that cheating would be easier but couldn’t that be verified too, by showing the mods/ cheats folder of the emulator?

With Emulation, you still get a variety of options and varying performance. Currently, some community members are working on creating a atandardized ruleset for Emulation speedruns. We have been humoring emulation more and more for 3DS and PSP titles given the lack of availability.

Cheating is obviously an issue as well but not the main concern. Primarily it is making a fair and standardized category. Then its developing techniques for verification to make sure all parameters are being followed. Emulation makes verification difficult.

We are always open to emulation. But the category and rules will be highly scrutenized. A leaderboard is only as good as the confidence runners have in the verification.

Has there been any progress on the emulator ruleset? Me and a couple friends did a run on emulator that beat the current record for 3 player guild% low rank, so we'd like to know if there's any chance we'd be able to submit it.
