Creating a new Category

As it's now possible to beat the game very quickly because of the finding of a new way to reach OoB in Granwich, I think maybe it would be nice to create a new category, "No OoB". Longer than any%, but faster than 100%. What do you think ?

Another category will be created for this game besides Any% and 100%, that's for sure. The brokenness that this game has now opens many ways to play and complete the game. However, no new category will be added to the site until there's at least 1 run done on that category. The reason for this is that I don't want a category to be there and have no runs to show what is it about.

On what the category itself should be, I'll leave that to the runners themselves, myself included. If you want to run something like "No OoBs" and the other runners agree to compete for that category then it can be added. But this doesn't mean any "category" can be added. Arbitrary categories made just to get a free WR that nobody will care about are a absolute no.

On another note, I been recently thinking about "All Boss Tokens" to be the other category.Simple, just collect all 12 Boss Tokens, 3 on each era, and then beat the game. Picture it like Ocarina of Time's Medallions, Stones, Trials category. I done some routing already and I gotta say it's really fun to do since there's tons of other glitches and strats for the rest of the eras. Like going OoB to get the Statue's and Monster's Tokens on the Viking and Transylvanian eras respectively or Bugs' Super speed glitch on Viking era. Plus, thanks to the newest OoB, you can go to any era on any order you want. This also lets you get to Viking era first, collect the throwing Bugs ability and break parts of the game you wouldn't be able to break if you did the levels on order. The possibilities are endless with this.

But anyways, we'll first have to do runs in order to be added. If you have any other ideas on anything, then don't be afraid to share them :)

I think the "All Boss Tokens" is a good idea. I admit I don't know any of the glitches you mentioned, but still the concept seems to be nice :) And I also agree with you about arbitrary categories. About the "No OoBs" category suggested, it's mainly to have a category where you have to play most of the game, and have to think of what route is the fastest, without having to make every boring stuff, such as challenges where you have ti press inputs in correct order to gem a 25 gear. I think some areas (Moon Valley, Baboon Realm for example) offer many possibilities about route planning, so I find it interesting. That is my opinion :)

I will do a test run of a "No OoBs" run in the following days. I will post it here so you can tell your opinion about if this category would be interesting to play or not :)

Hi all, i'm interested in trying to speedrun this game, 100% category in particular. I was able to figure out most of the mentioned tricks, except Bugs' super speed glitch, which i assume is something to do with super roll ability, however i couldn't find anything on it. Would anyone be so kind to explain to me how it's done or point me in the right direction, please?

Made a video of it. Sorry for not documenting strats on video before, didn't really have any means to record until now. If there's any other strat you need recorded or explained, just tell me.

That speed is hilarious, thanks a lot for the demonstration of it.

As for other strats, i was able to find an OoB in Baboon Realm near round platform with 3 rotating statues, the one surrounded by water. However, as i get inside the boss entrance, loading isn't being triggered, probably because it checks for completion of all 3 areas with statues. But even if it worked, it takes a bit long to get to the entrance, and i felt it might not be faster than the normal way. I wonder if you meant the same OoB that i found, or maybe something else that is actually useful (mine has no uses). Btw, same thing is with Babba's Cave entrance, i was able to get inside, but loading doesn't start unless 3 tokens are collected. It's surprising, because Elmer's Realm and Castle don't require tokens.

I gave up on infinite bubblegum in Zoovania as well, i assumed it may be using the door to the "plants" area (the largest one), which would be similar to the castle one. Is it done there or somehow differently? Speaking of the castle one, i'd hesitate using it in a 100% run, as it's difficult and would have to be made at the very end of the run, and you have to visit the last room for stuff anyway, so may as well activate the skulls/levers along the way. It's safe and wouldn't be a lot slower (if at all).

In a ps1 run, i saw both characters being controlled at once. Is it ps1 thing? Couldn't get to control both characters in 1 player mode in pc version. And 2 players mode is unplayable because of camera, at least for me. In theory, probably can be mastered though. I'm actually going to do Viking era first because of this thing, so that i can carry Bugs through Sam's temple, as long as i can't control both characters. (Edit: i probably can kill off both of the characters once at different points, but then there'd be still at least one section left to do normally, so carrying ability would still be useful).

I found some other random stuff too (may or may not be new), some of it even proved to be useful. I hope i'll be able to get a decent run before long.

The OoB on Baboon Realm was found a while ago. Doesn't really have much of a use except getting to the waterfall area with the two statues a little bit sooner. Don't really know if it's faster or not.

Bubblegum glitch on Zoovania was apparently patched on PC and it only works on PAL PS1 afaik. The castle one can be gotten pretty consistently with enough practice but it's understandable if you can't get it. I know most of the runners had trouble with it, mostly on PC.

Moving two characters at once is PS1 exclusive too. You can control the second character with the right analog stick and make him jump by pressing R3. But the carrying ability should work just fine, yeah.

Speaking of which, the carrying Bugs ability can do a bunch of things. If you have it, you can just use that to replace the bubblegum glitch on the final level if you throw Bugs under one of the open doors against the wall. That happens because when Bugs gets squashed and right after that bounces on Taz's head, the game thinks he's still squashed and can go through ceilings thanks to the small hitbox.

It's used a lot through the run on places with a low ceiling. Mostly on the genie puzzles and Sam's Temple. Also, it extends your hitbox immensely when Taz throws Bugs so it can touch the loading zones of some of the thin closed doors. You can skip the Baboon Realm boss with that. Also works for the Viking and Arabian era doors. It's pretty damn broken, lol. Which is why you want to have it as soon as possible and start from the Viking era.

If you remember where the OoB is done in Baboon Realm, can you describe it please? Because it looks like a different one than i found, mine is exactly near waterfall area with 3 rotating statues. As for 2 statues, it's not near the waterfall, so i'm a little confused.

Thanks a lot for other things, and wow, that throwing under ceiling glitch sounds amazing, can't wait to try it. If i get a successful run, i'll be sure to credit you.
