Leaderboard Update Open Beta: Performance, User-Experience, & More

I really like this update, I especially like to look at the board for Animal Jam Play Wild with it. One bug though, sometimes when I load a game it will say “The moderators haven’t created any categories for this board yet.” for a bit before loading, that wasn’t a thing before so if that bug could be fixed that would be nice.

I am more impressed with the update than I expected to be. Glad to see a step in the right direction after (IMO) many poor decisions made in the past.

I noticed that formatting for the subset of Markdown used in game rules must have changed, as some games have had the formatting in the rules broken. I noticed it in the game and category rules for Cars and Cars Category Extensions, but it may have popped up elsewhere. If this was an unintentional change I'd like to see it fixed, and if intentional the changes should be documented so rules can be fixed to appear correct again.

@NotTheJohn they have updated both game rules and run notes to use react-markdown. And now because of this: all unique things about SRC formatting is now not going to work, in run notes, which will break most formatted text

I'm really surprised by how clean this new look is and I don't think I'd mind it as the none-beta version. My only issue is the apparent removal of being able to look at a leaderboard as it was at another date. It could just be forgotten or not yet implemented but I know lots of people (myself included) would be very unhappy if this feature really is removed completely.
being able to look at a leaderboard as it was at another date
You clearly have not read the original post
we will have a newly updated Filter By Date feature!
I have, its just something I missed and it's something I'd expect to be removed like a number of good features in the past so I was just voicing my concerns

Great changes - you love to see it! 👏

What does the "Exclusive" option for Obsolete/Emulator runs do?

Edit: I see, for Obsolete it shows only obsolete runs and similarly for emulator. I think these could do with a little [?] tooltip icon for an explanation since they're new

Feedback 5 In this update, the Date filter has been added - which has somehow been messed up If you are confused by what I've said then please ask

 • The Date's stylisation should be whatever the user has chosen from their settings - how was this forgotten about?

 • The date info hover (see above) should work on the dates

 • The normal date selector, which is used on the reset of the site, should also be used here - also the same calendar icon

 • Being able to change the Date outside of the filter, like on the old board, would maybe be nice

 • If the above gets added: then there should be arrows, next to it, to be able to scroll though and see the previous/next set WR (although this would kinda only work on the From filter) - which is also useful for WR progression videos lol

 •
I think these could do with a little [?] tooltip icon for an explanation
I agree, with the dates

 • When any variable-typed filter is selected and the page is reloaded: the URL's filter is ignored. e.g. This is the URL to sort by Version: 1.7.9.3 but upon page open/reload this is ignored

 • I am unable to select multiple filters for the Version variable here

 • Selected filter values should appear in bold for when there are too many: this makes them easier to instantly see in the hover

 • Clicking a filter's header selects the last value

 • For the misc. category hover: they are NOT called secondary categories, they are called miscellaneous categories or misc. for short

 • Again for the misc. categories: another idea is that maybe we could have something like how the the "Level Leaderboard" text is shown - this would also add more separation between the main and misc. categories

 • My suggestion for the "Misc. sub-category values" in a dropdown should be added

 • User pages still use a different ranking algorithm ("New place ranking algorithm is different")

 • Please fix this bug in Mod Hub

Ugh, the rounded borders and verticalised filters look horrendous.

What about my feedback...? Will that be implemented? Of course not everything has to be

Also yay, it's public
