Rejected run should still be approved

I summitted a game called night of the consumers and it was rejected for the following reason (does not seem notable). I understand the fact that it does not seem that "good" of a game but relatively to other games I wont mention it seems better as a speedrun game. i ask that i be allowed to submit this game and speedrun it or that a better reason be found/better justification. my argument is as follows

  1. has a clear start and end
  2. has some degree of tactic (avoiding customers, box placement, ect)
  3. a small demand (me)
  4. proof of concept (i did a run)
  5. rules ready to be set that are clear
  6. would still not be the worst game on this site

You know, i haven't seen the run (which i would like to even though i am not a moderator) i feel like he is right. I mean you can basically speed run any game. So even though i have never heard of this game, i think it should be up there.

Edit - i took a look at the game through youtube videos and it seems good.

Edit - i just realized that you need one more online profile. What i mean is that you only have twitch. You need two or more things to request a game. I have youtube and duolingo.

i added info to my account and here is a link to what i think the run would look like. but thanks for voicing your support hopefully they respond and it can be accepted as a speedrun game or at least a better reason can be put forward as to why not.

@ActuallyElite Just a heads up, neither of your social media links work, and I doubt that Duolingo would be considered an appropriate method of contact anyway.

I'm assuming it was rejected due to the length of the run compared to the length of casually playing through and both being fairly short- if this isn't the case, I would resubmit the game and emphasize that a casual player would spend x hours playing the game but due to practice/game knowledge you can significantly reduce the time it takes to play through it. As mentioned above though, make sure to fix your social links because that will also get you rejected without those or a verified email.

i re submitted the game and expanded as much as i could the description of the game and made as much of a case as i could ill just have to wait and see what they say. thanks you for taking the time to help me with this.

the game was rejected again with the same reason as before. since they deem it not notable can i get the a good explanation as to why.

What We Do Not Accept

  • Short/Trivial Games (alot of very short games and runs can be found)
  • Generic Puzzle Games (alot of puzzle games can be found)
  • Generic Typing Games (did not find any)
  • Geography Games (one was found)
  • Vocabulary/Math and other Educational Games (some were found)
  • Quiz Games (some were found)
  • Generic Sudoku Solvers/Minesweeper Remakes/Rubik's Cube Solvers/etc. (some were found)
  • Visual Novels/Interactive Movies (idk if they count but i think some are there)
  • PvP-Related Activities
  • High-Score Based Submissions
  • Non-Video-Game Activities

so here is what is found. this is not an attack to any player or community these are just examples.

Roblox has 237 different "games" that are accepted. (differing quality) Solitaire is accepted (generic card game) Spider solitaire is accepted (card game) sudoku zenkai is accepted (sudoku game) Sheppard Software Geography is accepted (geography game) Basic math is accepted (math game) the impossible quiz is accepted (idk if it qualifies as a quiz) Brain out is accepted (puzzle game) Free flow is accepted (puzzle game) Cookie clicker is accepted (seems less notable) adventure capitalist is accepted (again not that notable) and much more.

ill keep it short if one looks at some of the games that are accepted we find alot of games that would not be allowed but are?

again this is not an attack to anyone or any community. i myself respect anyone who want to speedrun anything. i just want to understand why this was reject twice when it has been show that there is something there.

Roblox games are not handled by content mods. Roblox games are added by Roblox series mods. Solitaire and Spider Solitaire are considered to be notable commercial releases, hence, why there are an exception (this is covered in Game Request Rules). AdVenture Capitalist has over a million downloads on Google Play and 46 000 Steam reviews. While I don't know much about the game, I can't say that the "not notable" argument really applies to this game in particular. As for the rest, they were most likely added before rules regarding game requests got stricter. These games will not be deleted because those rules aren't applied retroactively.

Trying to to find examples of games breaking current site rules isn't going to help get this game on the site.

thanks makes sense that they would not retroactively enforce the rules and i did not know about roblox. as for adventure capitalist although it is popular from a speedrunning point of view it seems lacking hence my not notable comment.

for notc it was played by people like jacksepticeye and others so it has been "popular" enough to be played by big people

im not trying to make a fuss or anything i just want to understand what would make a game acceptable if a clear speedrun is not enough. what would in speedrun.com's view count as a notable game or if they could at least add a comment section when they reject games explain a bit why.

Good luck, you'll likely never get further than you have. The "notability" and "trivial" clauses are a mystery to us all.

thanks well at least i tried and now i understand a bit more about the whole situation. big thanks to everyone who answered and took time to help me very appreciated.

One more point: I wouldn't be surprised if the game's indie status (it's on itch.io and no other stores) makes it more likely to be classified by site mods as non-notable. The number of indie games is rising exponentially, which is great for us gamers, but there's only so many games speedrun.com can reasonably support.

true optimizing it all would be hard but as speedrunning grows so will the demand. i don't mind if they reject games or all that i just find it could leave out good running games or fun games out due to what could be called un notable reasons.

It's worth noting that you don't NEED a leaderboard on SRC to speedrun, or build a community.
