Windows XP Recorder

Hey! I've just completed runs of an old x-men game for windows xp (x-men: the official game). Do you know where I could download a free recorder that doesn't have a recording limit?

Alternatively, I could try to download a virtual machine on my windows 7 for windows xp. Please let me know if you have suggestions for that, too!

@kcaj OBS Studio is not compatible with Windows XP.

You’re probably best off running the game through XP in Virtual Box (or whatever you want to use to host VMs) and just capturing that in something more modern like OBS. I wouldn’t even bother trying to find software that’s going to be compatible with XP.

I was definitely thinking of using Virtual Box, but was unsure if the game disc could be read and installed on the VM. Thanks for the feedback, y'all :))

hey ox some old games can be run on Windows 10 too if you get it to install you can run it in windows xp compatibility mode (and if you dont get it to install on W10 you can install it on virtualbox and move the install folder to your W10)

For the specific game they're planning on running there's a DRM issue. I've encountered similar things a lot, the game just completely refuses to launch on anything other than stock Windows XP (or whatever other versions happened to be supported). These older DRM schemes are often impossible to circumvent, if you're lucky there's a (legitimate) DRM-free version floating around somewhere, but if you're not then you have to play by their rules.
