I had made a request for a new run category for XCOM 2 in the forums a week ago, but there has been 0 response from the mods. If someone can perhaps make a new category because of the release of the new DLC I would much appreciate it.

have you tried contacting the mods via their social media links? if that fails, request to be added as a mod using the leaderboard moderation thread in the Site Forum. Make sure you've made every attempt to contact the mods and that they've been inactive for at least 3 weeks before you use that route though.
