So I'm starting on a Youtube series tracking the evolution of not as obvious speedruns. My first one is Arkham Asylum.
I need a name for the series.
My initial idea was "Lesser Run Games " But I'm worried that might be insulting and it is a bit unclear.
A friend suggested, "The Path Less Traveled" which is cool but even vaguer.
What do you guys think? Or do you have another suggestion?
The Arkham games are far from being "lesser known" as far as I'm concerned.
If it's something you wish to pursue, I would suggest picking games that aren't only even more unknown, but are also interesting to watch (as in they are both fun to watch, AND have plenty of tech).
Whatever you do just remember to ask runners for permission to use their runs, some people aren't cool with that.
I will remember to ask permission. And by lesser known I mean "This is not what people think of when they first find out about speedruns." Due to age of the game, linearity, the time you need to put in, the fact it's licensed, unskippable cutscenes or just not as popular, this series will be on those games that are not obvious speedruns.
Arkham was picked first as while it's not an obvious speedrun, it is a well known game.
Maybe add a subtitle to what your friend suggested to make the purpose of the series a little more clear. Maybe something like "The Path Less Traveled - A History of Lesser-Known Speed Games" would work?
I like it! But if you do all that AND the title of the game, would it be too long? Could I do "A history of lesser known speedruns - (name)" though?
Yeah I guess that would be pretty long. That part of the name works well on its own though.
What's your definition of "obvious"?
Maybe something using "hidden gems" or "Few and far between"? "Diamonds in the rough" could apply to how something changes over time with enough pressure?
When people first think of speedrunning, they think of X. Portal, SM64, OOT, Metroid, etc.
I love the "Route less Ran", it has a really nice sound :)
