After hours and hours of watching another GDQ event, I've decided to actually become involved and try to begin speed running for myself.
As a child of the 80's, I've been playing games for a long time and even own several arcade cabinets. I'm really up to playing anything provided it doesn't make me motion sick, which can happen frequently with some FPS games. I'd like to try and begin to learn a few games that I already enjoy and then decide which one I'd like to focus on first. I really enjoy platformers, so I'm going to begin with Momodora: Reverie under the moonlight and Celeste. I'll also revisit some of my old 8 bit games to see if any catch on.
The main thing for me when selecting a game is to ensure there's an active community around it. I'm not here to try and set WR's; just have some fun getting better at speedrunning some games and have a good community to chat with about it.
