Newbie alert! Need help Recording/Editing

Hello! I joined this a couple of days ago ! I've currently got some runs that I'd like to upload. But I dont have any recording or Editting software. The game I have runs of allows replays, and they're roughly 30 seconds on average, so I was gonna record all of them at once, then cut the video into pieces and put them all up on Youtube.

Anyone have recommendations for software to use ?

For recording (I'm assuming you're playing on PC) I'd recommend OBS, that's probably the most popular free streaming/recording software around.

As for the rest of that, assuming I'm understanding you correctly it would probably just be easier to record them individually, or if possible stream them onto something like Twitch and then highlight all the individual parts.

Ah okay! What about if I uploaded the video onto Youtube and had Markers for where each of the segments are ? Do you think that would be okay too ?

Generally you should upload each run in its own video, way easier for everyone that wants to watch the run. And yeah, its easier to record them individually since its just a buttonpress to start/stop recording, then you only need to find out which file is which and upload all of them.

And to answer your question, Movie Maker should be enough if your on Windows, super easy to use

I want to add that recording in-game replays is a bit of an edge case since, depending on the game and platform, they can be easily tinkered with. Live recordings are generally preferred as proof. If the game you have in mind is already on the site, I'd contact the moderators first and ask about it.

Thanks everyone! The game I'm talking about says replays are acceptable as long as i show desktop first :) Ill see about the movie maker since I recorded them all in one go first. If not ill just do them one at a time :) No big deal!

Thanks heaps everyone! And thanks for the Welcome :)

If you upload individually I highly recommend compiling the videos into one for convenience and uploading them to YT separately from individual runs, or providing a timestamp table at the beginning of the YT video via annotations or in the description
