Streaming Wii U Gameplay

So i thought i needed a capture card to be able to stream my Wii U game play. Not really wanting to shell out for a card it dawned on me that my GTX 9600 might already have the capability, and is actually a capture card anyway without me knowing? On the card i have the standard HDMI port, a DVI port and 3 Display Ports. Now if i was to buy a HDMI to Display Port converter for a couple of £ off e-bay would this mean i could plug in my Wii U through the converter to my graphics card and pick up the game play this way? I'm not 100% computer savvy but i know enough to think this would work in theory, or am i just being cheap? and shoudl just buy a capture card which is actually built for this.

"standard HDMI port, a DVI port and 3 Display Ports" I'm pretty sure those will all be output ports, so no, you won't be able to do this.

Just buy a capture card, they're not that expensive.

My brain didn't even think about them being out ports rather than in ports :(

Guess i can't be cheap then, suggestion on a decent capture card @ShikenNuggets ?

You can get an Elgato HD60 or HD60S for around $150-200 USD (£110-150). That's pretty much the top of the line for quality though, so you might be able to find something that suits your needs for cheaper than that.

Personally I would get an Elgato with HDMI and composite. That way you can connect any system to it directly to your computer. Lowers the resources used on the PC also and makes your recordings better.

Which Wii U device you guys are using.
