Slow Internet Upload Speed *question*

hello guys i just ran hitman absolution and recorded my gameplay with obs and now i have to upload but heres the problem i have 1mb upload speed ik its bad. and it will take forever to upload onto youtube file is like 29gb. is there anyway around this like if i had a friend upload it for me? any ideas please let me know thanks! :D

Your upload isn't too bad, I have to upload on a 300kbit/s line. To get to your issue, you would want to compress it (otherwise knows as re-encode or render) with a good codec to shrink the filesize.

I can recommend MeGUI (outputs mkv and mp4) or VirtualDub (only takes AVI) for that, as both are free. Otherwise you can obviously look at Tools like Sony Vegas, Davinci Resolve, Camtasia Studio, etc. which will also do the job perfectly fine.

The final filesize will still heavily depend on your Resolution & Framerate though.

Also, you can try tinkering with the OBS settings to not produce such a big video file in the first place.

ah thanks guys!! really glad you can help im looking into it i saw in obs where it said bigger file size i guess i need to compress it then! will update when i look into it :D

btw my res was in 1920x1080 and 60 fps oof no wonder its so big of a file :o i really dont wanna do that run all over again lmao but if i have to i guess i will! hopefully the compressing part works and fixes it :P

A video of 1080p/60fps will be relatively big, yes. Depends on the duration of the run, if it's long (1+ hour) you may want to scale it down. Alternatively, you can check the bitrate of the output video. If it's very large (maybe more than 5000-6000kpbs), you can limit the bitrate in the OBS advanced video settings.

turns out it was 1600x900 60 fps and i got it scaled down from 27gb to 1.5 after messing with some stuff i used handbrake
