Games you wish were more popular as speed games

inFamous: Second Son and First Light aren't really popular due to the unskippable cutscenes. But other than that, they are both games that deserve more runners.

Finland

Styx: Shards of Darkness ( https://www.speedrun.com/Styx_Shards_of_Darkness ) Like you can guess, I speedrun it, and have found like 99% of the skips in the game. It's pretty good game because there are lots of cool oobs and if you like routing, there is also that option because if you want to get to those oobs, you have pick up certain items along the way. When making this comment, it's pretty quiet but active community, so don't be a stranger.

Soldier of Fortune... me and two other dudes are attempting to keep it going, finding fun new strats every day, very fun to play, I made tutorials for all skips and strats so it's easy for beginners, Quake based game, shame noone is trying it, also free to download.

Valhalla

SilentStorm, MASH and 7 others like this
Ireland

Would love if someone else played syder arcade instead of just me. The game is a side scrolling space shooter like old school Defender. Tons of fun and probably has a lot of things I have not found yet to discover.

United States

Well, uh, @Silentsigil and I run at least one game in common, and I'd have to agree with him. Pretty much everything we both run should be more popular.

Heck Tyrian 2000 is literally free, Xanadu Next is super interesting, Castle of the Winds has so many game breaking bugs to choose from and is bizarre to watch/play (there's literally three main methods of movement too), the PC version of FFIV is uh, FFIV and still a main line Final Fantasy game, and the Darkstalkers series is the freakin' Darkstalkers series.

United States

I am interested in watching obscure older games. Especially odd older games. Like that really obscure Indiana Jones "Raiders of the Lost Ark" for Atari. Really odd game. I tried playing it and could figure out anything ahha.

But no seriously that game is mostly just trying to get the right jumps to boost yourself and trying to control your movement. It's actually not that bad and it keeps you aware. I recently broke a little barrier on the leaderboards of that game, so I mean if you're interested at all, at least take a glance at some of the runs that aren't taken down yet.

France

megaman vs ghost n goblins. This short, available to everyone and filled with a ton of cool tricks and glitchs

South Carolina, USA

I recently started running Polaris Snocross. It's a snowmobile racing game with a mix of wave race and 1080 physics. Super hidden gem. Only like 5$. Playstation and N64.

Check out the PSC leaderboard here: https://www.speedrun.com/psc

Rugrats in Paris is also a very underrated speed game! Very beginner friendly with 5 different difficulties, 4 of them completely empty. Very Cheap! Playstation and N64.

Scotland

Perfect Dark Zero. I can see why it didn't get the attention that Goldeneye and PD did, but a little more competition would be fun.

Doom GBA! https://www.speedrun.com/Doom_GBA#Episodes_1-3

Within the last year the game has become all glitches and frame perfect exploits. It took me 3,000 resets to even get below 11 minutes RTA for the full game... I'd hope to one day see more people run it, but its a lot of stuff to learn. I'm still working on a full game tutorial for it all, but the general tricks and glitches are all covered in the guides section already.

It controls like a champion compared to nearly all console ports, its easy to pick up, but very difficult to master. Would love to have someone to race against :(

The Hobbit: http://speedrun.com/The_Hobbit

Since 2014 this game's routing has gone through some massive changes, the most recent of which being the longest level turning into one of the shortest levels. There are multiple categories, so it's a great game for anyone at any skill level. Everyone who's actually tried their hand at it so far has called it a great speedgame, but whenever it's mentioned everyone always thinks it's some sort of "meme run". The world record for Any% NMG is currently at 28:12 by me, but can definitely be improved if another player is willing to put in the time and effort.

Finland

@Chrixiam98 I need to give the hobbit another try then, i remember buying it when it came out and thought the game to be absolutely horrible and proceeded to repress my memories on it, so thanks for bringing those up. Maybe the game will be good this time around.

If I can plug, I run a game that could use more runners. X) https://www.speedrun.com/Dream_PC

idk if games that are considered "walking simulators" (even though there's more to it than that, like... puzzles and collectables, but regardless) are seen as good "speedgames", but, despite its flaws, Dream has been my favorite game to run, it's like... $10 on Steam and had a lot more to it than I initially thought when I bought it in 2015. ^-^;

My personal favourite is the original Colin McRae Rally for PlayStation, we have a couple of runners but could always do with a few more. The shortest category we have is Rally School % (Complete all Rally School courses) but the shortest main category we have is Championship% (Novice) which takes around an hour but can be quite competitive if you can make it through. Would be good to see some more competition for this game really as think it is a classic rally game that a lot of gamers will remember playing either through their childhood or when they were living through the 90's ;) Leaderboard link: https://www.speedrun.com/Colin_McRae_Rally

United Kingdom

Game Dev Tycoon, though mostly because I want to see how much further the game can be broken lol

Québec

Skylar and plux, adventure on cover island. The speed of the game in casual mode is really slow, but once you start b-hopping and going out of bound, the game just fly by and is done in 15 min
