I'm curious about Tags on games

When requesting a game or moderating a game, we set Tags like "Developer" , Publisher" "Type of game (fighting, racing, vehicular combat)"

But those Tags can't be seen by users (only mods) and they don't appear on search. For example, there's no way of sort games by developer or publisher on search.

So I'm just curious about those tags. What are they used for in reality?

They used to be used but since the Games page revamp they got deprecated and became unused

Yes, it's quite sad now. I used to search games with "2D platformer" tag to have new ideas about games to run.

A search results page could be really nice, for that Engine, Developer and Publisher could be added to refine the search, for example you could enter "Unity" and get a list of Unity games. Using checkboxes or drop down menus on the games page like it was before only unnecessarily inflates page loading speed and is not a great UX. Genre imo could be removed entirely as it's a very arbitrary and subjective way of categorizing games. Additionally the Engine, Developer and Publisher info could be made visible and clickable on game pages, clicking them then simply starts a search with that argument.

I'm in the site for a while and I didn't remember that before it was used. '-' It was not a complain thread. Was more out of curiosity. If administrators used to take notes on category, developers, publishers, or something.

But I feel you all. It would be nice to have the old search engine back. Hope admins work on that someday.
