There should be a search function for the forums.

@MarvJungs is there anything wrong with that picture? o.o looks fine to me

Like a few days ago , it was a 23 tied WR ( or something ) , now only 1 WR , that´s what i am talking about

That's up to the mods to decide if there should be milliseconds. Seeing how there is a difference between the top two times by less than a second, they probably should add it.

They may have to check the videos frame-by-frame to be sure of the timing.

I too noticed the recent stealth update that broke ties (it used RTA on metroid fusion, and presumably it used date of submission for barney). It seems to now have been withdrawn.

I hope it returns though! It's something I requested for fusion ages ago and it looked great to me.

Ties no longer working was a bug that is now fixed.

Oh, really? I honestly thought it was a feature. Especially since we talked before about achieving something similar - http://www.speedrun.com/The_Site/thread/g79jt/18#2cj0k

Right now if you submit a run, it always defaults to the day ahead of the current day. If you're honest and set it to the current day, you usually won't appear on the frontpage because the 'future' runs are on the top. That, and slow moderators can prevent someone from appearing on the frontpage even if they submit immediately after a PB. Maybe have the frontpage (and unfollowed games that appear) display most recently approved runs that were recorded in the past 7 days.

Hope that makes sense. –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– Depending on how organized you want the site, there could be an option for Year and Month for release. Some games in a series get more than one release a year and go out of order. /cnc is an example: The Covert Operations and Firestorm should be before Red Alert and Red Alert 2, respectively. It wouldn't need to be a requirement, especially if the information is unavailable; any month left blank can be treated as 00. –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– A setting to display what games you follow under Info would be kind of neat. –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– If a game is only on one platform and region (or the leaderboards don't care for region), have an option for moderators to hide the Platform column. It would help make room for variables. –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– An option for users to override certain display settings for leaderboards such as always display/hide rules, emulator runs shown/hidden/only, and show/hide empty time columns. Otherwise these can be worked around with a local script. –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– Options for themes on how the background is displayed: Centered, Tiled, Fitted, Filled, Stretched. User setting to disable moving/animated back/foregrounds, mostly for phones and potato PCs. –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– Some kind of measure for how active a game is; maybe based on the number of runs submitted in the past X days. Popularity shows the number of runners for a game but doesn't show if there's people still running said game. –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– If we have a 4th place icon we may as well have 5th one too. It's sort of awkward looking to see an even number of 'trophy' icons. –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– A cancel button when editing a post. Right now to cancel you have to refresh the page. –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– A European/PAL name option makes more sense than Japanese. There could be an option in settings that allows you to change which is displayed, which defaults to which region you live in. The Japanese names will be of more use once the site has translation options.

Speaking of translations, if you want to be more completionist, have American and European name entries always appear with a 'show more' button to display individual countries names (like Japan, France, Germany, Australia, etc) –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– Not in the near future but maybe in the long term: Marking games that you may run in the future, to signify to others possible interest in the game, and to keep track of what you want to run too. –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– This is what I meant by alignment as I mentioned before:

Left is what it is now, while right is what I have in mind. When there's more significant figures, especially with milliseconds, it can make it slightly harder to read. Aligning the hours/minutes/seconds/ms with each other looks nicer and is easier to read in order. This may be a bit difficult with font widths. –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– As for millisecond ordering, here's what I was thinking:

http://i.imgur.com/ANzRYl0.png

If a digit is provided, we assume it's true, whereas if it's missing, it prioritizes times that do have it; we shouldn't make assumptions and should treat it as the lowest number (essentially as 'A' instead of '9'). Like with the above this may be difficult with font widths, internal calculations, and even API.

United States

Treat missing digits as 9s. 1:00.1 shouldn't be ranked ¤behind¤ 1:00.19

United States

'A' would give bias to those who actually provided the missing digits, but yeah, treating missing as 9 wouldn't be much different.

The real problem here is no one actually times their milliseconds accurately, just putting what their splits say, which is human error 101 for timing

United States

For those who are really picky, LiveSplit does store each millisecond in the split file. Though I don't think exact milliseconds are necessary since it ends up being different by human delay, and there's not many speedgames that play over 100fps. It's mostly to help with ties.

any chance of moderator stats for series mods (ie: runs approved/rejected)?

BubbleBobbler: Series mods don't have any powers in individual games anymore.

United States

I made a list of games and series that use non-Latin characters if you like to have them stay within that: https://paste2.org/2A6w3kvM -- the characters I'm referring to are ’–—™®°²´¿àáæçñóöü

Some of them are justified, like 1080°, but ’–—™®´ aren't necessary. If you prefer they use the correct diacritics/characters, then quite a few games could use some updating. It may require UTF-8, though. It seems to be using only ASCII for now.

BTW, I have load of suggestions/ideas on the previous page. Been editing it to prevent flooding the thread.

I agree with Auddy, instead of allowing moderators power to edit posts, they should only be able to flag them for offensive stuff. I can already see abuse happening where real conversations are trying to happen and instead of there being an opposition, it's "all suspiciously in agreement."

To put it further, someone else could edit and have said user saying vulgar offensive things, which would "sway" any admin coming in to quell a situation to believe the super mod (i.e the asshat editing the posts) instead of the community members being tampered with

The first post said to be brutally honest so I will.

I think that the "Submit Run" only being visible to people who are logged into the site is incredibly stupid.

Because for people who just come to the site who wants to see what is up, or are even interested are instantly blindsided to the option. And being forced to go to the process of making an account to ask on the forum how to submit a run, or go to an eternal site, without even knowing that you get the submit button upon registration is incredibly redundant.

I believe the Submit Run button should always be there, and that if you are not logged in it will sent you to a page that says you need to have an account to submit, give you a popup window that says you need to loggin. or just in plain text says, you need to loggin to submit, and when you loggin you will get the regular submit run button which we currently have.

One SMALL thing, already creates so many barriers for new people who are interested in speedrunning.

ALSO I find the, Show misc categories, that shows or hides categories Extremely insulting to the people who actually spent hard work doing those runs. Who even decides what IS and ISN'T Miscellaneous I am hella sure it ain't the number of entries in that categorie.

Especially with this elaborate categorie system on the site, http://www.speedrun.com/The_Site/thread/lac6h . I mean look at pokemon Red/blue game http://www.speedrun.com/pkmnredblue it only has 4 categories but and there is more then enough room for all 4. But somehow only the first 2 are shown.

For someone who has been browsing on this site since last years SGDQ I only really noticed and Bothered to look at the small white text in the upper right corner and actually click it last month!!! And if I overlooked it I'm certain I am not the only one and if you think that, I should pay more attention, then that just means you have been on this site too long. Because for a new comer or a new visiter to the site they will mostly look at the categories because it has the biggest letters and that's it, and if there isn't a equally big button that says "Show All". like here http://www.speedrun.com/dmc3 All those other categories will have a very high chance to be overlooked or ignored.

My take is remove the HIDE button completely And if there is room just keep it there, and if there are to many categories make an Show All button like the DMC3 page because that is instantly recognizable then being tucked in a corner with bland white text.

Over the past year I have really grown to like and even want to contribute to the site and making it more accessible to new people like myself as a passive viewer and or potential future speedrunner.

So I hope these changes will be considered,

because I see some pages who hide categories for no reason like pokemon red/blue and see an amazing alternative, a 'Show All' button, to simply having it under a button allot of people will not notice. And also an unnecessary barrier for people who are interested speedrunning themselves but dont want to commit to making an account without knowing how to submit one.

Belutima: Misc categories are decided by the game mods. If you are feeling insulted, take your complaints to them.
