Making a Speed Running game - Want to playtest?

Hey guys! My name is Conny and me and my friend is working on a game together called "Hayfever".

I'm posting here because I'm curious to see if any of you guys would like to help playtest the game?

The game is aimed towards a speed running crowd. We want to make this an awesome game for you guys to play! The only way we will be able to perfect that, is if we get feedback from the right source.

What's the game about?

Hayfever is a speed running platformer where you use Allergies to traverse around the levels. You are an overworked postman named Thomas, who seems to be violently allergic to most things.

The game will have a lighthearted and to-the-point story. We want to focus mainly on the mechanics and pace of the game.

Hayfever is doing pretty well on conventions and we won a pitching competition in Sweden. So we are going to be showing the game at Gamescom this year.

Let me know in this thread if you want to join the testing team and I'll send you a link to the community :) !

Here's the only advice I want to give you: don't do "game aimed towards speedrunning". being a good speedgame is a byproduct, not the main "attraction".

I hear you! The reason I voice it that way is because it has a racing aspect to it. It allows for quick playthroughs. I personally enjoy playing platformers, which is why I want to design a platformer I would want to play myself. The game is enjoyed a lot by younger audiences too.

The idea didn't spawn from speedrunning. It spawned from me wanting to make a quirky game with a strange concept. I was sneezing like crazy during my last year of school. I just said to my friend "wonder if you can make a game about sneezing" and then I made a prototype. The speedrunning just kind of worked with the type of game I wanted to make.
