I can understand that but there are lots of speedruns of games in which this is taken into account in terms of different consoles for example ratchet and clank 1 2 and 3 where both are still ran on both ps2 and ps3 even though the ps3 has far superior load times also in my run as well where even though there is a 10 minute difference in game time there is still only a 3 minute difference in both records i dont see it as i need to go out and spend more money to compete i just see it as alright time to crisp up the run and see what i can do to make up that gap like few others would do in a speedrun this small atm and also make it better if its not just a run or 2 per category

See, to me, this is a major issue. Even just looking at one of your examples (Ratchet & Clank 1), the WR for Any% on PS3 is 28:54 while PS2 is 49:02 and only 7/77 runners bother to run on PS2 because of it (with the last PS2 run being 1/2 year ago and most being several years old. If I had this game, and only had a PS2, this screams "waste of my damn time". At the end of the day, regardless of how awesome of a community you can build around a game, speedrunning is still a competition. Not splitting consoles with glaring differences between them is like going to run a marathon, but letting one group leave 20 minutes before the other and still counting that time against the group being held back.

And this game only just got its latest runner just 2 to 3 weeks ago after no trys after almost a year so in my opinion unless there's a growth in runs there should be no reason to split into different console categories when we only have 5 who use console and 6 with emulator

Not splitting it, and forcing people to start at a disadvantage that they won't be able to overcome, is a surefire way to never see growth in the game's community. "There aren't enough people" isn't a reason to not do things the right way, it's an excuse. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

And now that were split between emulator and hardware there's no competition at all Cloud and I were going to try and push this game down as low as possible but what's the point if we can't really compete against each other and you said that speedrunning is a competition but if it were to be split up you would be the only gamecube run and put it in your way of describing it showing up to a marathon and winning just for being there aka just makes it worse and pointless

hi everyone ad just like to say having play def jam on all 3 consoles the xbox is superior in terms of loading times. but as hax said with the board split there's not much competition the life blood of speedrunning but so is fair and balanced rules and if we have one board then any one not on xbox or emu is going to be at a disadvantage. so in summary i don't know what to suggest.

i would be okay with it going back to normal so we can have a proper leader board and think until we actually get runs on emulator with load times that are actually insane because current emulator runs are either worse or close to xbox load times but that's completely up to Alex not demanding anything Thanks for your opinion Cloud.

Hax please understand that If i was to revert it back it would most definitely not be a proper leaderboard and please do not use you and mac trying to compete with each other as an excuse for me to revert the board back you have to understand that you and mac are both on different hardwares one being pc and the other xbox i ran both of your videos and you have increased speedtimes by 5-10 seconds no joke seems like a small thing but trust me those little seconds they add up Quick the main difference is you are running a Emu on a PC you can easily mess around with the settings to get better load times and thats Literally facts where as Mac he cant change settings cant tune anything all he has to do is hope he does his run on a good day you however have access to those settings it just wouldnt be fair to hardware runners who literally can do anything about load times because the console itself cant be Tuned and if you and mac wanna see whos going to get the best time you can do that you dont need to have the leaderboards merged to find that out but to sum it up hardware is already at a disadvantage when it comes to PC runners that's why i separated them to give Hardware players an even playing field with other runners who also use hardware

I can agree with you on that a friend helped me with my settings and it has a fast disc mode i never knew about i tried it and its load times were closer to an xbox but not faster so i used it to even the playing field so i can give him a challenge because like you said those seconds add up and i also said im not demanding it was just a suggestion i agreed and have no problem with the two being split this decision is all you but i still stand on hardware not being split into consoles because they are all same gen consoles

As of right now i think we are at a good standing by separating Hardware and Emu as for the In game time im still uncertain because its mixed between yall wanting in game time category and not im also thinking of adding 100% Completion meaning bonus fighters after crow it would be a nice add right?

Agreed and 100% could be nice and to take it even farther for a hell of a difficult run an all trophies run but that for sure will make for a long and rng based run but could lead to people coming up with their own strats but rng based runs are probably not fun.

Well, let me know when you split the game by console and I'll return to looking into speedrunning it. Don't wanna waste my time on a lost cause run that's dead before I even hit the start button for my timer, I have plenty of other games I can learn and run in the meantime that aren't now that I have my elgato.

I wasn't gonna say anything because I think that everybody makes good points but there aren't many of us here anyway. My concluding thought Is that even though we don't need the separation of console and emulator now; I can see this community growing to a point where we need to and that's great. Even though the run I just did says 2nd on emu I know it's 3rd overall and I think that any logical person could see that too. I don't think we need a separate category for IGT. I think that being able click on it and change the order like you can do now is perfect. It allows us to see it in that order if we want and labels them accordingly. Godspeed all. 😘

Scruffy I understand where your coming from and I would ask everyone aswell if they have something on there mind about the run then bring it to the forms so we can all decide as a Group what is the best option while true Iam the overall super mod and what I say goes most of the time I’m not seeing it that way you guys have just as much say in it then I do as the super mod I wanna try my best to make every runner here happy and in agreement with the run however I cannot do that if people don’t speak up and have a discussion with the group the split between emu and hardware in my mind seems fair and most of the runners seem to be content with my decision on that one but I don’t want anyone to think their suggestions or voice is going to get ignored I will hear out everyone’s opinion and actually think about it not shrug it off that much I guarantee

I hear you. My perspective is that everybody currently feels heard on their position.
