Hi all!

Simple question: I'm looking into getting into speedrunning. For simplicity, say I'll only be looking into SNES games. For doing this, should I go out and buy a SNES controller to hook up to my PC?

It may sound silly, but I've heard of X Speedrunner running say, N64 games with a GC controller, etc. etc. I just know I don't want to use my keyboard! Thanks!

Personally, I prefer use a controller. But you can take the best choice for you.

You can try with that you have already, and if you want more, you can effectively buy something (not too expensive).

The cheaper you go for something like that, the lower quality it will be. You may find the controller suffers from input delay or other issues if it’s cheap. I don’t know anything about USB controllers, but look for some well reviewed ones so you don’t end up buying a junky brand.
