This is a thread for any and all differences between play and play+. I'll start by listing what I found to be different

-Speed. It is generally faster in play+ and is dependent on multiplier. (generally it's 1X and 2X multiplier having the base speed than 3x having base BPM + 4 BPM and 4x having base BPM + 8 BPM.)

• Cutscenes. in play+ you cannot restart checkpoints therefore you cannot skip cutscenes. you can in play however
• Death. In play+ death finishes the level as a failure on whichever checkpoint you were on. in play it just restarts the checkpoint.
• HP. in both modes you have 2 HP. but in play you only need a bonus note to regain your shell, in play+ you need to get a bonus while on a X4 multiplier

There is good reason to believe that play+ is fairly faster (around 25 minutes faster in rough estimate), however that would be a deathless run.

I recently bought this game and was wondering if it was speedrun-able; once I play through the game, I may start practicing it.

It looks like Play+ would be the more challenging run considering it would be deathless. Would you suggest I tackle a Play speedrun before that?

Haha quite alright. I'm still trudging along the game naturally and wow, it certainly ramps up in difficulty by Level 5.

Hello, I’m a new user on the speedrun.com website.

I know this thread is probably over a year old, but I’m considering running this game at some point in the future as my first speedrun game, as I’ve been playing it pretty much since it came out on Switch and have been back and forth between that version, PS4, and the PC version. I’ve played mainly for high scores, but I want to see how quickly I can get through it now.

I’ve gotten to a point where the only level I still have difficulty with is 9 in Play, and that’s just because I haven’t really put a whole lot of time into that one yet. As far as Play+ goes, I’ll need to practice levels 7+ - 9+, as those levels with the increase in speed have gotten me quite a few times.

Not expecting a reply, but just thought I’d come in, say hello, and just announce that I’d be running this game at some point.
