@kwu Which browser versions are you using? It works for me on a browser that is about 6 months out of date and i also have ABP. For the boards to not work at all your browsers must be years out of date.
@diggity You can add a "---" in between, that creates a horizontal divider using markdown
Has anyone else noticed that rules now take 10+ minutes to update their text?
webdev probably, gotta test cross browser compat
https://trackmania.exchange/home Maps -> Nadeo Maps
Aside from the In-Game leaderboards, Time Attack records have pretty much always been tracked on the https://mania-exchange.com/ websites. Those pages are much older than speedrun.com and have features like replay submission and anti-cheat measures.
What would even be the goal of that category? If it's just die asap, you can hold backwards on JTC and tie the WR every time.
I think my work PC is on chrome 96 but afaik animated gradients on text have been performance intense on every browser since they have been possible. Going by what i've read about that, it appears that something about it triggers lots of repaints of the site. On my personal PC on Chrome 103 the problem is still visible (in the task manager) but much less pronounced. Probably cause it's much higher specced with a i5-12600k and a GTX 1060 6GB.
Doing some testing by injecting CSS, it's 100% the text animation. gifs and animation enabled: CPU 40%, GPU 32% only gifs disabled: CPU 34%, GPU 30% gifs and animation disabled: CPU: 6%, GPU 0%
Tested on my relatively underpowered work pc with an AMD A8-6600K and a GTX 760. Page: https://www.speedrun.com/supporter/forum The CSS i used: .usericon { display: none; } .username-animate-slow { animation: none !important; }
I agree with @Liv that it's currently very unclear who is eligible for a boost when boosting a leaderboard. The text says "Boosting a board gives 3 active players in its community [...]" but tbh i have no idea how it's determined who is a part of the community and how it's determined if they are active. So far i have only boosted one board and that one happens to have no active players according to the stats panel. There is constant activity and route development happening in our discord so our kind of community activity just doesn't appear on the leaderboard. From the reactions in our discord (no reaction) I guess a player is only considered if they would make the stats panel count up?
Pros of this update:
- With the site becoming profitable they can hire more staff which means we get updates faster and better tested
- With boosting you can randomly get no ads without having to pay anything
- If the site is profitable enough they might even reduce the ads or make them less intrusive for people that aren't paying
- seeing a subscription model like this likely gives people that work on competing sites a motivation boost, and competition drives better development
I'm not really trying to defend ELO here, it's just that there are upsides to this that some might not see at a first glance. Pretty sure i could write a longer list of cons than pros.
Could we get a non-credit card payment option? They are pretty uncommon in Europe. Since I don't know anyone in person that has a credit card I can't even ask a friend to do that transaction.

Has anyone ever actually gotten that gift card? It's funny that we never got an official answer in this thread, only a discord screenshot from a non-staff person - and you don't even need an image editing program to forge discord screenshots. (Not saying it's fake, we just never got an official confirmation)
I was about to say:
Thx for fixing the username gradients. It's an actual gradient now instead of 2 styled span elements per letter (which can be thousands of unnecessary elements). My nitpick for the next update: Better compression for usericons, especially animated ones. Currently they can be multiple MB in size like the one @Odogster has, which is 2.6MB (often more than the entire rest of the page it is displayed on).
But then i noticed you only fixed the usernames for the preview in the profile settings page. Is it planned to also bring that to other pages? Of the more than 38000 html elements on the minecraft java page, currently over 10000 are just for displaying colored usernames.
Edit: no idea what is causing those line-breaks around the mention in the quote Edit 2: something seems very weird right now, every edit switches the lines in this post around.
The cutscene skipper is currently only intended for any% speedruns. If you want to play casually or another category it's very likely that you will encounter issues or unskipped cutscenes. (Support for other categories is planned) Overall it's relatively stable if you don't deviate from the any% path.
If you encounter green screens and crashes (even without the cutscene skipper), most of those problems can be solved using the 4GB Patch: https://www.speedrun.com/ffx/guide/oyi9n
Site staff should have known better than putting a period it the URL.
