The right most time is your split time. Before you split, it shows the time of your PB’s split there. After you split, it shows the new time for that current run you’re doing. If you skip a split, nothing shows there because you skipped that split in the run you’re currently doing. Unless Livesplit has a feature I don’t know about (could be likely, I haven’t used LS in years) there is no way to stop your split time from showing there, that’s just how a timer works.

In short, it’s not changing what you’re comparing too, it’s adjusting your split accordingly. If you were changing comparisons, the time you’re ahead or behind would change (as would the split times of your future splits).

Just upload it to a normal image sharing site, I don’t know if any sane user on here would give out their email address.

Having a run to show for the category you’re requesting is usually recommended.

And theres been talk of adding that I believe in the past, I’d assume that if there’s some interest and it gets a few runs then it could be added as a Misc category.

How do you know there won’t be 190 level runs? People do 20+ hour runs, you never know what someone will do.

I can’t speak for site staff so take this with a grain of salt, but 30 levels isn’t even 20% of the total game. That doesn’t seem sufficient at all to get it accepted. The more you resubmit a game, the more irritated site staff can get, so I’d recommend doing more levels to increase your chances of the game being accepted.

I’m not 100% sure this is a bot but maybe look into it? One post is a carbon copy of a post of mine, just using synonyms for some of my words. Another post looks legit, so idk.

Edit: as mentioned below, they edited in porn links to their posts, so yeah, definitely a bot.

If the game has 190 levels then you probably want to show off a run that, you know, finishes the game and all 190 levels.

@AnthonyEcon how can you complain your runs aren’t on the LB while also admitting you don’t want to upload them? It’s not a mods job to upload the runs of other users, it’s their responsibility to do so. You can’t complain your runs aren’t on the board while simultaneously choosing not to upload them. You can’t have it both ways. I can’t comment on your first point since I don’t know the game, but the mod isn’t doing anything wrong by not uploading your runs for you. You clearly think so lowly of the board, so I wouldn’t upload your runs for you either; you’ve made it clear you don’t like the LB.

@mattmcgrath have some patience, you only posted a day or two ago. Dangerless or another full mod/admin will see your post and address it. You can see Dangerless checks this thread every few days. There is no set point for when this thread is checked - it could be every day or it could be once a week depending on how busy people are.

All runs that are edited will require them to be re-verified by the mods of the game. It’ll be under your pending actions, it’ll appear on your profile when it’s re-verified.

s-video is just a better quality image over composite, that’s all. I don’t think I’ve ever looked for s-video cables for the Wii, but you’d usually want first party ones if you’re going to capture s-video (third party cables can often provide awful quality). By default the Wii comes with cables that use composite video (composite video = the yellow part of the yellow, red and white cables).

The basic idea that has been tossed around is that a game will have the option for multiple LBs underneath it. As an example, you might a game called Video Game 1, and right now it’ll just have one LB. With this idea, you’d be able to have multiple LBs (ie. the main LB and the CE LB) for Video Game 1 and you can choose which LB to look at based on whatever your need is.

As for when it’ll be implemented, probably sometimes after the site redesign is completed. I don’t know what the priorities are after the redesign.

In your specific case, with a small game and only a couple runners, just use the Misc categories on the main LB for your CE categories. CE boards are really only needed when your game is large and has a lot of Misc categories.

This covers it all assuming you’re capturing composite https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Op8aK2RecKhjRJB7juOvwUjkXwBbL1eipxUpixBS2c4/mobilebasic

Spoiler alert, it says to use the gv-usb2 like mentioned above

@CapitanBublo that’s known, 0.2 behaves the same way. For some reason the first load screen takes really long unless you load something first, then start a new game. I’m more interested in seeing it happen for other loads throughout the run (like random load screens in worlds).

@BlacKPhOeniX013nL I’m not sure I fully understand your question. If you’re streaming directly from the PS4, you should be fine as long as your stream doesn’t constantly start and stop (hard wiring the PS4 instead of using wifi will help with that). If you’re using a capture card and broadcasting software, then the same thing applies - as long as your internet doesn’t drop, the stream will be fine. A timer isn’t required to be shown, you just need the RTA time at the end of the run. If you are having trouble keeping the stream up because your internet is lacking, I’d recommend investing in a capture card and local recording your run while streaming with soemthing like OBS. That way you can always have the video even if the stream didn’t hold up.

Additionally, this isn’t the thread to discuss this in (it’s way offtopic). I’d recommend staring a new thread or contact the LB mods via discord to discuss this more.

I asked this on twitter but I want to ask it here too to see if anyone has a video available - I’ve seen the term “load caching” thrown around which is essentially (from my understanding) that the game loads different all the time due to random caching. This is what I see as a pretty big reason people say RTA is inaccurate. However, I can’t seem to find a video/spreadsheet that showcases this.

Does anyone have a video that shows this? A video with something like 5 or more runs done by a single runner on the same setup that shows the same load screens varying by a significant amount of time would be great to see. There may be a video like this out there already, I just didn’t see it in this thread (and I ignored the forums and discord for a while to avoid spoilers so I also may have missed it when I caught up with it all).

So, if anyone has a video for this, please post it here, I’m interested in watching it and seeing how much the loads differ.

There are runs out there that are 19 hours long and are timed with RTA. Not having time for breaks isn’t a justification for not using RTA - if you need a break in a long RTA run, then just take one for a few minutes, but leave the timer running. Health comes first, so people need to do whatever needs to be done to not harm themselves. It’s an unfortunate side effect of long runs; people used to sleep during AC 100% since it was 70 hours and they left the timer running the whole time.

This is independent of the discussion of IGT (I don’t even know what a Plat run of this game would look like right now), but “no time for a break” is never a reason for not using RTA no matter the circumstances. That’s just speedrunning. If the game has an IGT that can be used and the long run can be done across one file (counting IGT across multiple saves becomes super messy) then thats fine to use. But it can be used because it works, not because it lets you take a break.

Taking breaks is always messy in speedrunning because you’d either have to put time limits on breaks or people could step away for hours. That’s why it’s always been “take breaks as needed”.

Thanks for compiling all this information, I’ve wanted to see soemthing like this for a while with this game.

My biggest issue I still see is that IGT being “around 25 minutes” isn’t good enough imo. Ninten and Crispy differ by about 30 seconds in terms of their IGT vs RTA for whatever reason. That to me is a perfect reason not to allow this, because assuming that difference never changes, Crispy could have a worse run than Ninten and still end up beating his IGT just because Crispy seems to have gotten lucky and has IGT that’s closer to his RTA.

This problem has been seen before where communities that use IGT see worse runs beat better runs just because the IGT was weird for the better run. They’ve almost always rectified this by switching to using RTA. Granted for some of those games they don’t have to contend with multiple platforms, but my point still stands.

Another thing I’d be curious in data on is if Ninten always has a 25:16 difference in RTA and IGT. If he doesn’t, then that’s another reason not to allow it. Imagine how crappy it would be to beat the RTA WR only to still wind up second place because your IGT decided to differ by 27 minutes instead of 24 (as an example). If someone can show me some data that that scenario never happens and your RTA vs IGT difference is always within a few seconds, then this is a moot point. But I don’t think you can use a timing method that is essentially random about how much it differs against RTA.

Give all of these question points, I don’t belive IGT is a viable starting point at all. It may be viable right now because runs are so unoptimized that IGT oddities may not change things that much, but I don’t think it’s a good idea to set up the LB on a potentially flawed timing system because fixing it later on might be difficult if we transition to RTA. I’d say, the best option is have people submit both RTA and IGT but have RTA be the default sort. That way IGT is present if we ever figure out that it’s 100% accurate and switch to it.

In the meantime, I think a combination of sub categories and filters while using RTA is the best way to ensure a mostly level playing field. I would say having sub categories for PS4 and XBone and then filters for HDD type as well another for Pro or 1S (or whatever the XBox version of the Pro is called) can work because then you can filter down the LB to see the adjusted LB for your specific setup. And by including Pro/1S as a filter along with HDD type, it makes for a cleaner look since you have a ton of sub categories for platforms while still allowing people to adjust the LB for their setup so they can only look at the runs that are the same as theirs.

The RCA to HDMI is the most likely problem point. Unless you got a good quality upscaler like a Framemeister, a cheap converter will usually introduce lag and delay to your capture. The problem is that since you’re gonna be converting it before the split, I’d be concerned about the delay and lag flowing through the split which could mean you’ll be playing while delayed. Granted, that could end up not being the case, but it’s something to be aware of if you find yourself with quality issues or delay in the game.

But other than that it sounds like a decent setup and you’ve got the right idea with how everything will be connected together.
