You could, you know, split manually? Or not use a timer?
While technically a correct statement since people can run whatever they want, if the user wants to submit to the LBs a timer on-screen with the autosplitter is required for all runs.
Adequate video and audio evidence is required for all submissions. LiveSplit must be present and clearly display the timer's automatic start and finish.

All submissions must be timed automatically through the LiveSplit auto-splitter system
That being said, it doesn’t look like OP posted in the game’s forums, so @PyotrR , you need to actually talk to the community of the game and talk through your issues with them so they can help you. If you posted in the Discord instead, my apologies, I’m not in that server to see that. But I’d be very surprised if nobody can help you or won’t help you with any issues you have since that game has a very large community of runners right now.

You need to discuss this with the community of the game, they will be able to assist you.

They also have a discord server linked on their LBs.

Ideally a game that can’t be reliably run is not a good game to speedrun. While I guess you can technically create whatever rules you want for the game if you become the sole moderator for it, it’s generally not accepted to pause the timer for any reason. Pausing the timer is only allowed in Segmented runs (and even then a timer isn’t traditionally used, those types of runs usually rely on in game time at save points), most games time their runs with real time which means that pausing the timer is prohibited.

Again, there’s nothing stopping you from making rules that allow for stopping the timer, but it can get messy. What if when the game crashes I take a break to calm my nerves, is that allowed? Do I need to load the game within a certain amount of time after each crash before I invalidate my run? What if the game crashes more often on my computer than yours, does that give me an unfair advantage as I get to relax while the game is rebooted? These are just a few examples of ambiguous scenarios that can be created with arbitrary rules that allow for pausing the timer. They can be worked around, but still, rules like this tend to get cluttered with a lot of arbitrary decisions.

My personal opinion is that if a game is so unstable that it can’t even be completed without crashing, then that’s not a game I’d want to play let alone try and run.

I’m not sure I understand what any of this means, but I guess you’re talking about a new category for Super Mario Odyssey. In that case, it sounds like this would be a category best suited for their category extension page, you can find the LB here, check out their rules for adding categories in a pinned forum post there https://www.speedrun.com/smoce

New games can be requested here: https://www.speedrun.com/requestgame

Please note that your account must be 7 days old before submitting a new game request, and make sure to read all the rules/requirements for submitting a game request. Good luck on your runs.

Hello, welcome. The Guides section on leaderboards is where the community can share their notes, notes or other relevant information about the game and it’s runs. That’s really all there is to it, it’s a relatively straightforward feature. It’s important to note that because each Guides section is community maintained, not every game will have something listed there.

As far as I know, the feature is still in a beta-like state, so it's not ready to be released to the broader site yet (donators get early access to new features as a perk of donating). If the next question is going to be "when will it be ready to release to everybody?", then the answer is I don't know; that decision is up to Pac and the other admins of the site.
3. HDMI to Composite. This is useful for those who want to record older systems with their capture card (I don't know if it works but I hope it works for you!). LINK: no link, you can buy these easily from amazon
This isn’t a good recommendation and I would never encourage someone to buy one of these devices. Analog to digital signal conversion is a tricky process and very few pieces of hardware do it with great accuracy. RetroTink, OSSC and the XRGB Mini are all very good at it, and they are also expensive. They’re expensive because they have that type of video conversion down to a science and do it excellently. While any of those cheap converters from amazon will technically work, they will degrade your quality and will introduce lag into your capture. For the cost that one of these will run you, someone can by a composite capture card for the same price and probably get better, un-degraded quality does their retro systems.

Also, there’s already a pinned thread in this forum that goes over all of this stuff in a much better format and in much better detail: Click here for the thread

AntarcticaTimmiluvs4 years ago

They said in the OP that their current composite to HDMI converter is very bad, so I don’t think that’s an option. Besides, I wouldn’t ever recommend using a composite to HDMI converter unless you’re using a top of line upscaler (RetroTink, OSSC, Frameister) because otherwise you’re going to get really bad quality and awful lag from any of the basic ones you can find online. Upscaling analog signals to digital is a complex process if you want it done right, hence why there’s very specialized hardware to do it and do it well.

That is generally allowed as long as the video quality is good enough to see what is going on. If there are any doubts, you can always check the rules for the game and/or reach out to the mods for the game. They’ll be able to better handle any questions like that or inform you if any rules/restrictions around it.

@lepapagameur This is not the place for that. If you’re facing a game with inactive moderators and would like to become a moderator for the game, you need to use this thread https://www.speedrun.com/the_site/thread/dueac

Please remember to read the first post and do your own due diligence as specified there before posting.

You can run whatever you want, but submitting to LBs is another matter entirely. Usually, when HD re-releases are released, game's will differentiate between the platform in some way. They could do this through a subcategory, a variable, or an entirely different category. Sometimes the re-releases will be faster (which is usually the case for PS1/2 games released on later iterations of the Playstation due to improved loading), or in some cases they'll be slower (the NES Classic version of NES games run slower than a real NES).

Now, I don't know what game PTR2 is, but I would recommend checking out their LB and seeing how they categorize any HD re-releases. If you don't see the platforms listed, you could always ask the mods/community of the game to find out if there's a reason why nobody runs those versions or why they aren't listed on the LB.

@BrillianceTV What Daravae means is that you need to check this toggle underneath your "General" Settings (this will send you an email every time you login to the system, which is required for moderation).

Are you asking someone to make one? You’re better off asking the community of the game as they’ll know the most about the game to make something like that for the PC version of the game. They might also already have one, you’d have to check with them (they might have it listed under their Resources on the board).

Is the $60 of shipping and import fees standard for things being shipped into your country? Have you tried searching eBay for a gv-usb2 to see if there’s a seller on there who won’t gouge you with shipping costs? (Your screenshot looks like Amazon so that’s why I wanted to ask about eBay).

I only push for that because you’re really not gonna get much better than a gv-usb2. I can try to dig up a few others out there for composite - I think my very first one was a Diamond VC500 card, but looking at it now, it’s more expensive than a gv-usb2. Unless somebody had any other specific recommendations, I can see a ton of random brands on Amazon but I can’t vouch for the quality of any of them.

Even though a timer is generally not required in the video you submit, you should have some method of timing your run while you’re doing it so you know what time to put in the submission. Mods will retime runs if necessary, but you’ll still need to submit a time with your run.

Whichever feel comfortable for you? I don’t think SM64 has any rules against what buttons you use when using emulator. Most communities don’t care what your bindings are as long as you’re not abusing something that isn’t possible on a standard controller for the system (doing something like binding the A button to the mouse scroll wheel to get easy turbo for text mashing is generally not allowed for console games played on emulator for example).

If you still have concerns about something like that, you can always reach out to the mods to make sure you’re not doing anything banned.
