What are you exactly struggling with? We can probably provide more specific advice if we know what exactly is the sticking point for you. But in general, the biggest things are in what Racingmonster mentioned - have some food and a drink nearby and get anything like bathroom breaks or other things out beforehand. Ive done multiple 10-13 hour runs and most of what helps me is finding time to stand up and walk around a bit when I get some time, helps keep me from getting too stiff or tired by just sitting for the whole time.
I'd also recommend trying to do long practice sessions. Whether it's ILs or just random practice, try to practice for a whole 2-3 hours to see if you can manage that before trying a full run. That will get you more accustomed to doing the game in the time you'd need for a full run. Over time you might find it easier to manage runs that are longer like that.
KevinDieSeegurke, I don't think you saw what kirkq said last week about your request. The mod is not inactive, he was online only 2 days ago. You need to make a more clear post in the game forums so that the mod knows what the issue you have is. You can even request them to add you as mod if they need the help, but without making a clearer post I don't think the mod will be able to help much.

Most games tend to avoid random RTAs like that because you can create dozens of them and it would lead to an overcrowded LB with lots of arbitrary categories that only complete parts of the game. For ALTTP, Master Sword only exists because it was a very old and popular race category that has just kinda been grandfathered onto the LBs.
Obviously I hold no weight in saying yes or no to a category like this ending up on here, but in my experience you probably won't see something like that get added. That being said, I'd still encourage you to do the category (and others you come up with as well) for practice and personal competition which might help if you ever have the time to sit down and do full game runs.
For that price point idk if you'll get anything decent unfortunately. Most decent HD ones will run you close to $100 or likely more. You might be able to get one a bit a cheaper depending on where you look and how much shopping around you do, but I'd still recommend saving up a bit more money before shopping around.
The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is that the second monitor isn't properly connecting to the GPU because of the splitter. It could be a bad splitter or it could be that the VGA port on the GPU just can't support feeding two monitors with the splitter.
Another thing would be connecting the second monitor with a different cable (HDMI or something) if your GPU supports it. Finally, double check the input on the second monitor to make sure it's expecting VGA and it isn't set to something else like HDMI. I know that last one is kinda obvious but I've been burned by that simple check a couple times in the past.
If none of those work, a final test would be the directly plug the second monitor into the GPU without the splitter so that is your only monitor. That would at least tell you the monitor works and that it's probably an issue with the splitter or GPU not being able to push out to two monitors over one port.
As a disclaimer: I haven't used Livesplit in like a year, but unless there is a new feature I don't know about, you can't change your splits by just changing the category name in the splits/layout.
For Livesplit, category name is basically just a text field, it doesn't control your splits. Say you do a run of CategoryA, you make your splits and then save them by right clicking and doing "save splits" or just "save" (I forget what it says) as "CategoryA.lss" (I think .lss is what livesplit uses for a file extension, sorry if Im wrong). Now, all of your splits are for GameA and are saved in that file. If you want to do a run of CategoryB, you need to create new splits and save them as "CategoryB.lss". Now, if you want to switch between the two categories, you need to right click and do "open splits". Then you pick any of your saved split files (in this case CategoryA and CategoryB) and open the one you want. Then your splits/segments will be updated to reflect that category.
As for the sub categories, no, you can't natively do that in Livesplit, you have to create different split files for all of the different combinations of variables you want. Then you can proceed like I talked about up above. I tend to have folders for each game a run and put all of the different split files for the various categories of that game in the folder. As an example, I'll have an "ALTTP" folder, and inside of it I'll have splits for "mastersword", "nmg", "mirrorshield", etc. Then when I need splits for a category, I just do "open splits", go to the ALTTP folder and pick the category I want the splits/segments for and open them up. I use WSplit but the same holds for Livesplit as they work the same way in that regard.
Hope that helps.

The Mega Man community doesn't use this site as their central hub for speedrunning, they have their own site http://megamanleaderboards.net/index.php
You'll probably find more guides, help, etc. on there than you will here.

They are coming in hot and heavy on the main forums today.
Welcome. If the mods for a game are inactive, you can request to become moderator using this thread https://www.speedrun.com/The_Site/thread/63nr7
Just make sure to read the OP before submitting a request to make sure you meet the requirements.
I can't speak for everyone but I am a dirty memer, so that's why I set my country as Antarctica.
In reality I'm just a nerd from the US but that is so much more boring.
Saying that you generally need glitches to progress in randmomizers (or that the point of playing a randomizer is to use glitches) is not entirely accurate or correct. Plenty of randomizers have logic that prevent you from needing glitches to progress. ALTTP has such logic (and they also have one that does require major glitches for those who know them) and I've even beaten many Beta Quest seeds without glitches.
While glitches can help, plenty of randomizers are designed with logic options to ensure that glitches/major glitches aren't required. Obviously I don't know what kind of logic existed (or is planned to exist) in this randomizer, but if the right logic is put in place, glitches won't always be needed.
Just a note about your SDA comment - many old runs that ended up on SDA were later determined to be spliced. Most notably is multiple runs from Zelda runner TSA. So, no, SDA didn't ensure uncheated runs, but like this site and others, when they figured out a run was cheated it was removed if it was still posted.
You can't download a car but you can download more RAM.
On a more serious note, emulation of games is fine as long as it doesn't speed up the game in anyway. That sentiment is usually the case with most instances of running games on anything other than official hardware.
