This could be helpful for those who kill runs due to bad koopa positions but there's a lot of shooting bullets and hopping off enemies because that's a little much to remember but maybe there's a different way with the same koopa patterns but with less shooting and bopping. Also GG on the 5:03! :D
~ For getting a NES you can go to Ebay that's where a lot of the retro Nintendo stuff I look for is. (Amazon may have it too.)
~ Most people play on the American version as it is most recommended by me plus the Japanese & European versions are harder to find just go with the NES cartridge. (To be more specific the vast majority of the community play on the SMB1/Duck Hunt cart (And some play on the SMB1/Duck Hunt/ World Class Track Meet cart as well.) but the type of cartridge is your choice. :) )
~ Most people who speedrun this game use an emulator to use savestates, (The Wiiu (which was the first console I played the original on) also allows savestates but only one at a time.) but practically ALL runners who own a NES use either a PowerPak or an Everdrive. I don't own either but from what I've heard Everdrive is more recommended but more people play on Powerpak but the choice of cartridge/platform you use saves on is yours.
I hope I helped! Good luck and have fun speedrunning! :)
@AquaBlake That's not a bad idea.
@MaxDragonSoul TASes aren't legit. That should be obvious.
It's sad that none of the mods have posted yet.
Why would they even add dolphin if it's been proven inaccurate (several times)? Just because IGT is accurate doesn't mean a simple emulator is accurate as well. Plus, really no one plays on emulator anyway to my knowledge. So what's the point of adding an emulator anyway if only like, 1 or 2 people will play on them?
Little harsh don't you think?
I bet nearly 60% of this community is just cheaters.
Will this go for SMB1 and it's CE leaderboard too?
God this thread is gonna be a 100 page thread that's just about people saying their runs are fake. Anyone else?
Yes timing does start when you press start.
Yeah why does the timing start when you press start but in SMB1 is starts when the game starts?
Why would you say that?
You don't need to make 2 threads of literally the same topic. Only make one thread.
