I am not to sure, I highly doubt it is though. I wouldn't recommend submitting it just wait until a mod comes in and replies.
No, one, it wouldn't be easy to do in a run, and two, it would be slower because you have to slow down before clipping into the blocks and you have to slow down to get into the exit pipe quickly.
Someone please just lock this before this get's out of hand.
@FlipRun Only if the person changes their follow settings so they won't get the notification. But I highly doubt anyone in this community has the settings set to that.
The pellson ROM, here's a link to the thread: https://www.speedrun.com/smb1/thread/dg86r
Yeah I had to make a new password while logging in because the hacking that's been going on.
Title: Beat 4-4
Player: Me (Mars02)
Rules: Complete the game from levels 1-1 through 4-4 (with warps!) as fast as you can. Timing starts when the player can play as either character and ends when the character touches the axe at the end of 4-4.
Extra Info.: The category can also be called 'Any% 4-4' it's up to the mods.
Now we've found ourselves a way to the 4:54! :D 8-1 framerule save, and another 4-2 framerule save. But like I said before, let's not shoot for the late 4:54 as the first 4:55 was just done around a month ago.
@EthanAlexE Plus in 8-1 doing fast accel will save another framerule too.
I might not be thinking thoroughly enough, but what's the point of doing this type of fpg if it only saves 4 frames? And it's obvious to most people that you can only save time in increments of 21 frames (0.35 seconds). 4 simply isn't enough, so it isn't worth doing that fpg in runs because it doesn't save time. However it DOES add to the amount of frames the player can spare so they don't have to worry about doing everything else just as good.
Especially if you're new to speedrunning SMB1 I highly recommend to NOT do pipe jumps. It's easy to go little at a time. But what I do is slow down a little bit before the pipe, then jump, land on the pipe for a frame or two, then jump again. For the 3 pipes with no ground (after the star block) I jump to the 2nd pipe once Mario runs over the line between the 2nd last brick, and the final brick. I press left once I am about to land on the pipe, and same as before, jump right after I land on the pipe.
P.S. ~ Don't worry about 4-1 pipe jumps, it doesn't save or lose any time.
For now the time wr attempters are aiming at is around 4:55.6, but like what other's have said, it would not be easy. 8-1 framerule save is one of the only timesaves that could possibly get a human to 4:54. Let's not rush it though.
There's no nonstop codes on VC, the nonstop codes are for a Gameshark which is for the N64.
N64 games are indeed challenging to control on keyboard since they're all 3D games, but practice makes perfect. So just take it easy and let yourself get used to the controls for the keyboard. It will take a while.
I believe playing off of an online emulator and submitting runs like that is allowed, but I'm not 100% sure. It's up to the mods to decide.
You can just do emu for android because there's no point adding literally 46 subcategories in each category for each console.
