cool frontpage
The front page is now limited to three runs per game at a time.
I like the feature of having regions/variables etc. not obsolete each other, but can you make the ranking numbers skip additional runs of the same runner?
I can certainly do that, but I'd like some more feedback on if everyone likes this or if it should be an option or something.
Could someone make it that for ILs, you can assign which IL categories are applied to a certain level? So that different levels have different categories.
This will certainly be done at some point, but I think there are other things that should happen first so I can't say when it'll happen.
It'd be nice if variables can be toggled per leaderboard, because some variables might not apply to all categories.
Not sure what you mean, isn't that exactly what was implemented 2 days ago?
Attempting to delete an extra variable gives an error message?
Fixed.
Every time I try to select a default variable, it is automatically unchecks.
Fixed.
Variables defaulting to not obsoleting rather than obsoleting like before has been changed, my bad.
The bug causing the RE1 madness has been fixed as well.
Please explain further what you mean by "become a mod in this thread". Thanks.
I actually said "request to become a mod in this thread". By posting in that thread, you can request to become a moderator of Adventures of Lolo since the current moderator is inactive. Being a moderator of the game means that you'll be responsible for keeping that leaderboard in good shape, i.e. mainly verifying runs. Now because the current mod is inactive, clearly someone is needed to keep it up-to-date but that's only gonna help if that person is not going to be inactive as well. So if you're up for that, post in that thread. If not don't post obviously, but that does mean there's still no one to verify your runs.
Yeah, favicon caches can be really slow to update which is causing this.
Sounds like a bug; I've made a note of it, will check it out when I can.
On the Puddle IL leaderboards, there had been a level with ² on it, [..] The URL was the same for both that level and the level before, and clicking on either one resulted in this [...]
Thanks for letting us know, I'll look into the best way to fix it.
My custom theme has a white background. Which means that usernames with white text are unreadable. Can you add an option in the theme customiser to turn white names black?
I'm assuming the same problem occurs for red names on red backgrounds, green on green etc. So rather than adding a dozen of options, a single option for changing colours that are very similar to the background seems more sensible (but also harder to implement).
Is there a way to have the "times in milliseconds" feature available for a game's level leaderboard but not its full-game leaderboard?
Not yet but it will be in the future.
it would be cool to have the ability to "follow" a game or series and get updates on new times
Absolutely, this is already on the todo list but it's a rather big update which is why it isn't done already.
Stickied thread to request name changes?
Such a thread should be created soon.
It's probably best to have a list of requested features somewhere; there are a lot of multiple requests for the same thing.
Maybe, but on the other hand it's actually nice to get multiple requests for the same thing since that lets us know what features are wanted by a lot of people. Additionally there is obviously a non-public list and features are requested faster than they can be implemented, so that list gets longer and longer. Features being requested again is a good way to get them moved back to the top of that list.
Quick question: once someone submits on a game will it show up in the My Runs page immediately or only after it has been accepted. Additionally, how long does it usually take for a submission of only about 23 minutes long?
It'll only show up on your profile/leaderboard once it's accepted. A way to view pending submissions is still in the works. How long it takes depends on how active the moderators for that game are. In your case there seems to be only one who hasn't been online in 2 weeks, so perhaps it would be a good idea if you request to become a mod in this thread, assuming you're up for that.
I'm not sure exactly what the current logic looks like, but I think the ideal implementation should be something like
1: If two runs on two different platforms show up in the same search, only the faster one should be shown if the "option" is selected, else show both. (Or maybe invert the default, I'm not sure.) 2: If the search list is then sorted to only show a specific platform, show the specific platform run regardless of the "option".
I'll elaborate a bit, hopefully this'll make it more clear how it works:
If 'Regions obsolete each other' is enabled, if you have a run on USA / NTSC which is 1:00 and a run on EUR / PAL which is 2:00, only the NTSC run will show up on the leaderboard. If the option is disabled, both will show up.
'Regions obsolete each other' is enabled and 'Platforms obsolete each other' is disabled by default as this is the way leaderboards already behaved before the options were implemented.
Of course if you set it to show only EUR / PAL runs, a 2:00 PAL run will show up even if you have a 1:00 NTSC run, regardless of the option.
You didn't have a notification yet because the request was still pending. Because all requests are checked manually by an admin, it sometimes takes a few days.
What do you think of having ILs (and misc categories?) not show up on the front page latest runs? It can get pretty crowded with extremely niche stuff.
When favouriting and customizing your own front page etc will be implemented, you'll definitely be able to choose this. It'll probably take a while though before that's actually done.
By default it might indeed be nice to focus a bit more on more mainstream and have the front page slightly less crowded by niche stuff. However I don't think not showing ILs would actually accomplish this. Not showing misc categories sounds sensible though.
A couple things...
Is there a way to make it so that showing all systems only shows the fastest time from a user if a user has submitted on multiple systems? I believe it already does this if a user has a time across multiple regions. I couldn't find an option, and this looks messy:
http://www.speedrun.com/dk64#No_Levels_Early
I've added options on the Edit game page to be able to determine whether runs for different regions/platforms should obsolete eachother.
Also, any updates on having a variable for specific categories rather than have a variable apply across all categories?
The backend update needed to implement it is partially done, but the frontend for it will still take a bit of work. But it's definitely one of the things I'd like to finish sooner rather than later.
All settings should now save correctly on the Edit ROM Hack page.
A way to see pending submissions and game/series requests would be nice.
I agree it would be nice to see your own submissions, but I think there are some things that are more pressing to implement, which will in turn make implementing this easier.
The bug causing the 'Series moderators have powers here' option from getting unset has been fixed.
Any games that were affected by this still have the option unset though, either a game super mod can simply turn the option on again or otherwise contact a full mod or admin who can also turn the option on again.
Gyoo: No moderators got removed exactly, it was just that the Series moderators have power here option got unset.
The cause of this has been fixed now, though.
