just ask the moderators of the minecraft series, they can add it without it having to go through the verification process. https://www.speedrun.com/minecraft

Minecraft maps are to be put in there anyway.
I tried bandicam, OBS, and shadowplay, but nothing worked.
only thing left you can do is buy a camcorder and point it at your monitor.

wasn't this basically already answered?
https://www.speedrun.com/mkdd you want to be posting this here. but knowing the mods of the mk games, you're out of luck, no 2p categories.
edit: for those interested in the outcome: he moved his post to https://www.speedrun.com/mkdd/thread/b352n calling it now: it'll get shot down by the mods for "not being different enough"
Dungeon Defenders is up there as well as a co-op game. also possibly as 1p2c game.
Fraps records good but it saves the video with a lot of bytes. Like --> 1 minute = 1 GB. This makes the uploading time long as hell! I stopped using it after my Armed with Wings 2 runs. So just use OBS.
You're not supposed to upload fraps' files in that format lmao. you gotta put them through a video editor first.
@SpiderHako what he means is that even tho the game only needs IGT, the real-time input is still there, people still tend to submit with the time put into the real time (even if they put the igt) or heck, even put it in both because they don't know better. if he doesn't edit the run to not have the real time, it just messes with the leaderboard's layout.
basically what he wants is a way to turn off the real time input, but keep the igt label. currently you can only do "Time" or Real / Ingame / Without Loads

for capture, grab OBS, as for editors... I like Davinci Resolve & MeGUI, both insanely easy to get into.
Does the capture card save the video on the card itself, or does the video save on the pc? In that case, how much space do you think a 1-2 hour video will occupy on my harddrive? What quality is required?
depends on the card, I know for example the AVerMedia LGP can save on a SD card you can instert into the card, but most cards "save" to the pc's hdd, or rather, the bundled software does - as the card in most cases just transfers the av.
As long as it's recognizable, you can go as low or as high as you want. for a 480p video, 2h would take about... idk, 3GB? for 720p, 2h would take something like 15GB.
Because of an unstable internet connection, I probably won't stream attempts. Is it still possible to get the "splits" overview that I see a lot of streamers use? Is there a special software I should use to time my runs?
Yes, still possible. Check out OBS to get video recording with overlays working, for splits most people use LiveSplit or WSplit. Other split programs exist but will not be named in this post. it's up to you if you want to use splits or just a timer, or nothing at all and time solely in post.
Lastly, is there a big drawback to only having one screen? Logically, I guess that would mean I wouldn't be able to see the clock or the splits, if I got it working.
well, the biggest drawback imo is the limited space. but yeah, other than maybe not being able to see the time/splits there's not much of a drawback to having only 1 monitor.
dunno, I dont have an elgato - using screengrab or window capture is the only way to grab it from the software if it does not support streaming. I only know that the AVerMedia software does allow streaming from the bundled software.
is the issue only happening w/ OBS, or also with the software they gave you with the card? Try capturing the footage from the included software, not directly from OBS make sure the drivers are up to date, your power source is actually providing enough power and double check all cables to see if they're still intact.
You might want to get a capture card if the internal recording of the ps4 isn't enough.
you can, but it's highly discouraged, if your run gets called out for cheating/splicing, without sound you're gonna have a harder time.
either you point a webcam at it or install a capture unit into it (or get one with one pre-installed)
2s on google would've solved that question.
