Do I have to rotate with the camera or can I just switch from holding down to holding up?

Thanks for the reply!

Hello everyone!

I've been trying to at least learn world 1 to see if I am eventually going to run this game. However, I'd like to do it with the yoshi flutter in Yoshi 2

So here's my description of how I do it: Stand at yoshi's nest, aim to the top right and then jump + spin to get the headshake then hold down + a little bit right but when the camera changes, I lose my speed. I've tried turning my control stick with the camera and stuff and I only got it once, but I had no clue how I did it

Any help would be greatly appreciated :D

Basically everything that can run gamecube ISOs are emulators. Dolphin, Dios Mios, Devolution, Nintendont, etc. Most of the time though when people say emulator they don't mean the homebrew channel apps though. Putting your gamecube discs in a wii, then running it isn't emulating, of course.

The reason why RTA is different for some emu plays: Most of the time people have 'idle skipping' checked on dolphin. Here's an explanation: "Idle Skipping causes the emulator to stop attempting to hold itself at the processor speed of the Wii. In short, it will lock its CPU emulation at "as fast as possible" and the only thing throttling the emulator at that point is the audio plugin. With Idle Skipping ¤disabled¤, the emulator attempts to run no faster than the actual clock speed of the Wii/GC (depending) and will try to maintain that."
I know some people would rather use a console, but there is no stopping them from just getting an emulator since its very easy to record on and very easy to setup and use.
Uhm, no? What if your PC isn't that good? What if you don't have a gamecube adapter? And then they would also have to download a ROM. + It's easier to cheat on it, so video proof wouldn't mean shit. So using emulator just to record is illogical.

@gavme there are many videos in the top 30/20. I don't know why you would want to require video proof just so that other people can watch the person who was 5 seconds faster than you. It would, like Lafungo already said, add a barrier of entry for the leaderboard. If there weren't ANY videos at all in the top 30, then maybe you would've had a point, but even then I doubt that we would add video as requirement.
It has recently been changed to have a top 10 requirement following a conversation between yourself, Skull64 and I.
And ¤we¤ decided that it'd be better if we would only require videos for the top 10.
You could ask the people that got dropped behind your recent Special Cup time. -snip- I mean, how did you feel about not having the video to show off?
There's a reason we're enforcing the top 10 video rule now
learn where improvements can be made for their own runs

it is interesting to see your level peer's runs for the same reasons I mentioned above.
People only would want to see videos of players being better than them. Top 10 is enough for that.

You're turning this discussion into a RTA vs IGT discussion, which should either be in another thread, or just dropped. At the moment nobody is gonna 100% agree with everyone else.
Many of the other games on speedrun.com require video evidence for all submissions.
Yes, but Mario Kart doesn't.
I'm a moderator for the Mario Kart Arcade series and such is the case for that.
What's that supposed to mean? Just because you're a mod of a game that no one plays we should require video as well?
but it is frustrating when you get a new user's time drop in front of yours that has no evidence or even comments
I've never had this feeling for myself so I'm not sure how I should feel about this, but you shouldn't care about ranking; you should care about your own time.
yes it might be a bit more work for the mods, but you can easily recruit a few more mods from the active community to help out.
This is basically the problem. If you want to watch an entire 40 minute video just to check for breaks, then go ahead. RTA is not that hard to time. Using a stopwatch or timer isn't really that hard, now is it?
The frustration is compounded, when in the past I've personally had several seconds added to my RTA on runs by certain mods just because they didn't see the menu due to the video starting as soon as the cup has been selected. I may as well have not bothered going to the effort of uploading a video!
This is a whole other issue and irrelevant.

The reason we time by seconds and not milliseconds is because of humans not being 100% accurate. If you really want the "real" rankings, just sort by IGT.

Magicite. It's so broken you can beat it under 2 minutes, where as a normal playthrough would take you ~50 minutes.

Basically you skip all of the districts, then use a starter weapon to kill the final boss while hoping for good boss lair RNG :D

Hello everyone! After some debating we've decided to require video for the top 10 in each category. This means that everyone can watch high level gameplay, and will make sure no new records will have no video.

This is better for the people who watch the runs (they now have guaranteed footage), and for the people that speedrun (no more random PBs and then feeling like shit about it that it wasn't on video).

The times that have no video and are in the top 10 won't be removed.

It's no big deal, obviously load times slow you down and it's not really fun to see that some else can be faster because of that.

At the least you can always aim for fastest DS time :^)

Gelderland, NetherlandsGoomba9 years ago

Yep, I just checked mission mode and there's a huge difference. Thing is, there isn't really anything we can do, especially in mission mode. We could however split the categories into DS and WiiU, but since the leaderboards aren't that big I don't know if that's the right decision.

Gelderland, NetherlandsGoomba9 years ago

@Seclusive_ How do you want to time it without load times? No IGT for mission, and to re-time every single level is obviously way too much

@Jumpyluff mariokart64.com has all the time trial needs you want, there's no point in opening a new leaderboard for that. If you're upset about the moderation, then how about you actually give some constructive criticism?

Gelderland, NetherlandsGoomba9 years ago

Can you make a video comparing both load times? Someone else also said this to me a few months back, but back then when I tested it it was the same loading time for me.

Gelderland, NetherlandsGoomba9 years ago

Load times are the same for me on DS. Are you perhaps using a 3ds?

Tourney is in progress! See the main post for the link to the playlist.

Gelderland, NetherlandsGoomba9 years ago

Yeah, we will. The organizer (Sekanor), will update the seeding ASAP.

Edit: Tourney is now in progress! Playlist of commentated races here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLu2AUAna9lP0KWrmS-D-xUJIRdJmHph5q

                                                                 Hello everyone!

We have started another MKDD 1v1 tournament. It doesn't matter what skill level you are, because it's all about fun! There are a few differences between this tournament and the previous one. But one thing is for certain: The commentating will stay :D

http://challonge.com/mkdd_all4cups_2

1 thing though: You have to stream your gameplay. Doesn't matter if you're using a webcam, camcorder, capture card, or emulator. Just make sure we can see it.

This time, we're not doing All Cup Tour. Instead, it'll be 4 cups in a row. The main reason is that there now will be a better comparison, which makes for easier commentating. There are also a few small things, like getting hard tracks earlier (makes for less choking) will not be the case now.

Hitting the reset button is banned, so that everyone has to do the same menu-ing.

SpeedRunsLive will also not be necessary anymore.

Keep in mind, this is the first time we're trying this kind of format. If there are any objections to using 4cups instead of ACT, please leave a reply.

Have fun everyone, and may RNGeesus be with you.

Hello everyone! Sekanor is organizing an All Cup Tour 1v1 tournament, and anyone can join! Here's the link: http://challonge.com/mkdd_allcuptour

If you want to join, send Sekanor a message on twitch. http://www.twitch.tv/message/compose?to=sekanor

The tourney will begin on July 31, 2015 at 8:00 PM CEST. You have one week to play your match. Friday is just the moment when the bracket will be final.

The races will be recorded on SpeedRunsLive.com.

Good luck and have fun, everyone!

Gelderland, NetherlandsGoomba9 years ago

RTA is a requirement because menu-ing is part of the run. If you can't handle that, then sorry.

Gelderland, NetherlandsGoomba9 years ago

We're not telling them to 'fuck off'. They can just as well do a run and time it. If you really want IGT to be the only way of tracking things, then there are many sites that do that already, like cyberscore.
