The game runs at 30fps with no patches applied. It is in fact the intended way to play. The sluggishness is caused by forcing windowed mode.
If only we could get a classic rebirth for this game, like the old RE games.

Both of those problems are fixed with the patch.
I played it through multiple times to the end, no problems. It did freeze up after a while without the compatibility mode. Setting it to win95 fixes it. 4:3 can be set in your graphics card control panel.
I installed the game and am playing it with patch 3 and comp mode win95. It NEVER crashes. Piexoto's patch doesn't work at all on my PC.
PSXJin seems to work fine, the RE comunity uses it if I remember correctly.
Depends on the route, I have my own where I don't reboot at all, but that could change in the future. PSX 1.13 is the closest to the original hardware, start up screen and everything.
I get an injector error when trying to run it with the piexoto patch: unable to find or load autohotkey.dll- 126
For those of you having problems with the PC version, here is the fix:
- Install the game
- Apply patch 3
- Run in compatibility mode win10 and as administrator
- Download dxwnd
- Open dxwnd as admin and add the MG exe to path and launch
- In the directx tab select directx7 and adjust window size and position And you're done.
The PC version is easy to fix actually. Applying patch 3 and running it in compatibility mode win95 should make it work perfectly. The only problem is running it in windowed so you can record it and the timer simultaniously.
What PS1 emulator should be acceptable for runs? I think it should be it's own category like the RE speedruns have. I'm asking for those of us running the PS version but don't own a playstation. PSX 1.13 seems to bug out after long periods of play.
Also, Downing Street and Dead Man's Walk are a lot harder in the PC version because there are a lot more enemies.
The PS version is probably faster, but it's such hot garbage that I think I'll stick to the PC version. I wish someone would make some additional patches for it because I can't figure out how to run it in windowed mode without it spazing out on me.
I have a route down, but I don't think it's the most efficient. It's based partly on the Shock_ written walkthrough.
Aside from better graphics, sound and animations in the PC version, here are the main mechanical differences between the two versions: Computer audio logs can be skipped in the PS vesion Missing paralysis extrude in PS version (dark purple instakill enemy in the PC version). The controls are more sluggish and unresponsive in the PS version (this includes going in and out of menus, as well as character transitions and camera angle transitions). Every shot knocks back an enemy in the PC version, while in the PS version it's random. Two trimorphs are broken in the PS version (the one by the elevator doesn't move, and the one by the pillar isn't glowing or pounding the pillar). You can switch between characters through the inventory and vac tube menus in the PC version, while in the PS version you have to exit out the menu and then switch characters. Terrance Whittaker is a boss in the PC version which requires several Psyonara rounds to kill, while in the PS version he goes down in one hit.
Wish there was an in-game time in this game, that doesn't depend on frames.
No luck. I can live with the lag as long as it doesn't affect my time.
Got the patch working, but the inventory still lags.
I don't have that, I seem to have difficulty applying the patch.
