These are really helpful, 4-1 fpg, 1-2 clip, 8-3 fpg/setup, 8-1 fpg/setup are the only hard tricks missing input videos, hopefully someone will do them eventually.

Also that fast version of 8-2 pipe jump, really saves an additional frame rule even over bbg? or is that the jump that runners already do? it looks a bit different.and smoother then jumps I've seen in videos.

What's so beneficial about that setup? Changes marios subpixel values to be correct before sockfolder? I believe Darbian did 8-3 without it on his wr.

sorry I miswrote wish as with, i don't have it.

I wish someone did a 455 human theory with normal not swag setups and inputs shown, would make things much easier.

He'll get it soon if he grinds a lot, he does 1-2 clip/warp zone rarely but regularly and that's all that was missing.

I think it's only been done in practice but it is humanly possible.

should human theory 8-1 have a coin in it? stuck in a plate has a video doing it on youtube.

how can you record input files on emulators (specifically fceux)?

I watched this recent happylee tas vs somewes wr video, and I can see that he did 1-2 clip, perfect 8-1 and perfect 8-4, but is that enough for 2.25 seconds over the record or are there other frame rules in there he saved? Also why the tas didn't fpg 8-3?

edit, it's not a human theory tas, but his human theory tas is still 4:54:280 so it's close.

Someone made a graphic in a forum post of all the things required for the ultimate time, mid 4:55 seems to be the limit.

thanks, yeah, fast 4-2 and wall jump/ww were included in the run.

whats the best time you can get roughly without these tricks playing a near perfect run?

2a03man7 years ago

I would have thought 6 year olds and older would have started with snes and not have played it but I could be wrong, I'm in my 30s, and do have barely memories of it but I was around 1 year old when i watched my older brother play it, so playing it again is like the first time. Mostly want to run it because technically it looks like one of the hardest games, and also it has great prestige like Donkey Kong.

I doubt any of the top runners care about nes nostalgia, they're mostly too young anyway, there is likely a very tangible game play difference, that's what I wanted to know.

2a03man7 years ago

ok, I thought there had to be a reason to go through all that, will stick to emu until I get very good.

I may have misunderstood, but I read an earlier post where someone said that an emulated ntsc rom is frame by frame perfect to a console nes for smb1, and since emu records are allowed, whats really the point in spending all the money on console, crt, powerpak, all that stuff? seems a lot of money, is there any definitive difference, super slight input lag or something?

2a03man7 years ago

so the underground does effect it? or just to save the frame rule?

2a03man7 years ago

ok, that's what I thought, I had read on some site fpg requires perfect runs of the rooms before, which I thought was probably not true, don't think they knew what they were talking about.
