never really got the hype over minute/second barriers in games, I mean look at 455 how many people have it now, eventually a few will have 454, but assuming no new frame rules are ever found and saved, a perfect game (tie rta tas) would never be tied.
seem possible?
with framerules its pointless, if there was a category for that rom hack without frame rules, I guess, people could show off their fast accel skills, but there would still be ties probably.
I think I'll at least try it if I ever run this game because nobody has used sticks as a controller (don't know if I will run), older fighting games at a high level had precise execution frequently all game, I already think mechanical keyboard is advantage over nes pad (would be better if everyone had to use same controllers but I realize that's not how most speedrun communities are), since there's no rules except no cheating, might as well try.
I know nes advantage sucks but if donkey kong players or fighting game players can do frame perfect things regularly with joysticks would it possibly be beneficial for emu?
Especially a hitbox might be interesting (all buttons no joystick) as it's similar to a keyboard with bigger keys.
Yeah savestate is not that useful, maybe if you could cycle through saves with a button, because nestopia can't, it only does one per button, or somehow hold more saves than 10 which is most emulators limit which would be useful, like have 35 practice spots for the whole game or something, but seems like lots of work, with level restart and emulators its pretty good for practice anyway.
oh ok I knew about those and they are very helpful, I thought save states might be seperate and referring to states you could save and load as you play the levels.
@pellson I looked and only found this
• Save-state re-enabled (completely untested). Select+B to re-load level @ entered frame-rule. • Select+A to return to title-screen.
by save state does it mean reloading levels from start and reloading the game?
thanks
what are the controls for save states? could be useful for emulator practice with a nes controller with limited buttons.
also +1 on a mute music and a both mute music and sfx toggle.
You can get a real nes brick and use a usb adapter with emulators as well to make it similar to console.
yeah that's true, just want to get comfortable completing the game at this point, just wondered if it mattered because in kosmics sub 5 tutorial he was showing 380 tips with no fpg.
ok thanks, I usually get a fast 379 if I screw up the 380, but don't like to reset it so often there when I'm just starting out.
if you just jump top of the flag pole will 379 get you the same frame rule as a 380?
So if someone finds a correct visual cue they can get D70 everytime?
I was just wondering if not doing it for the 380 pipe entry would help save the fpg framerule, make for a better underground, probably would but maybe not worth it as far as consistency.
I know most people do it but does pressing left at pipe lose a frame?
I watched some of one of Darbians recent streams and he said 1-2 you need to do a one frame jump press, so other than that it might be similar to 4-2 clip or any wall clip.
I see.
Yeah, I wish somewes recorded inputs on his streams like kosmic did, or happylee or someone, it seems they are not widely known, I'm not anywhere near using those high level tricks but just like to have things to practice.
