it's unlikely that people will do it as a regular thing. Though it wouldn't surprise me if it ended up as one of the other 2 billion meme categories for this game.

You don't need a leaderboard for this, as there probably will not be enough interest for it to make it worthwhile to make leaderboards for it. Definitely feel free to run it.

Pretty much. It was the route that first got me interested in the game and I feel like it's a significant enough part of MM's history to be ran.
