So quite recently we found out that emulator is much faster for this game. despite how much of a meme game this is, we should still figure something out in regards on how to handle this. Should we separate the times? Like have Emulator runs not competing with console runs? Or should we just keep them together? Or make console the standard version for people to use? Any and all thoughts here are appreciated.

I still want to go with the accessibility side of things. The game costs a load of money to buy for Console and new runners aren't gonna want to run the game if they have to buy a copy for $80. The community is small enough as it is, and I think people will be more likely to join if they can just play the game for free. Not to mention, as far as I can tell, the game seems a lot less enjoyable on console with all the lag and whatnot. I would still like to figure out the difference in loading times between the versions, and maybe console runs can have an adjusted time displayed in the comments or something.

Would be argueable if the ps2 FDS doesn't work. But besides that emulators are basically always slower than running ps1 games on ps2 (with FDS)

is there a list of approved emulators i could use or is it free reign. Also what are the best ps1 emulators to use?

All I know is that I'm currently using ePSXe, which works pretty well, though the interface can be kinda annoying to use. There's not a list of approved emulators or anything though.

I think separating them is the best way to go. If one has an advantage over the other, then they should be different categories. I also think making console standard is a bad idea. I'm trying to learn this game at the moment and I'm using emulator. I want a sub 30 run before I submit.

@30Cents I do run the game. If you read my post I said that im trying to get sub 30 before i upload a run. You're never going to grow a community if you keep important topics like this confined to only experienced runners. Future runners should have a say also, because if you want to grow your community, then listen to the opinions of the new people that want to start running, otherwise this game will never grow in players. There are so many ways this community could grow, but that's for another discussion post.
