I personally think it's dumb not to require video evidence on the high score leaderboard.
If you read the rules, it says time starts when the hand disappears from the screen.

Hey everyone. I know this game hasn’t really been active much in the last few months, but as crazy as it sounds, I found an exploit that warrants the creation of a new category. I call it “Think Skip.”
When you answer a question, the website will automatically take you to the next randomly chosen question and increment your rice count by 10.
If you press the back button on your browser, you go right back to the question you just answered. But the rice count is preserved, so when you answer the question again, your rice count is incremented by 10 again. In this manner you can continuously answer the same question over and over and generate 10 rice every time.
And because this website works based on ad revenue, the rice is real too. A new ad appears every time you load a question.
I went ahead and approved your run. (I think it's pretty clear it's not spliced due to your cursor movement)
I would recommend using OBS, as that does allow you to capture system audio.
Thanks, Ronnie! I was looking into submitting to TG, but they must've added a new rule since I last submitted there, which requires me to have 3 "submission points." So I voted yes on a bunch of runs awaiting verification and am waiting until I get enough submission points to submit to the Crossy Road leaderboard.
Another question, how do you get a Guinness World Record for this game? When do they check the leaderboards to decide who gets the record?
So many characters are functionally identical, so I think a category like this would be pointless
Thanks. I know I have the skill to get a score over 2000, but it's really hard to maintain focus that long, and after messing up a few times, I tend to put pressure on myself. Actually, my most recent 500 score speedrun PB occurred after I realized I was trying too hard and relaxed. I didn't even notice when I passed 500.
Thanks @RonnieWeston ! But after all this time I still can't get close to your high score PB, the true "top spot" in my eyes.
I think it has to do with my playstyle. I like to play using a lot of lateral motion and quick, flashy movement, whereas your movement seems very efficient and mostly vertical (kind of like the arcade version). My playstyle is conducive to speedrunning, but requires a high level of execution that makes it hard to reach a score over 1000 most of the time. I could play slower and more conservatively, but at some point, I find it hard to justify lessening my enjoyment of the game for a better shot at the high score.
Ok my bad. By my calculations the time of the run is 2:27.666
I just submitted a 500 score speedrun, and so I checked out Ronnie Weston's PB which is listed at 2:27. But when I watched the video I noticed two things:
- the video starts after the first 2 hops
- the 500 score appears onscreen at ~2:32
Can a mod look into retiming this run? https://www.speedrun.com/Crossy_Road/run/yj4lle7y
Because we're doing the frame timing by hand it's possible one of us is messing up slightly
Also @StevenEastman13 join us on Discord (Link in the sidebar)! (sorry for double notif)
On the left side of the page, there's a link to the full game categories (We have the level leaderboard shown by default)
