The thing is that this is pretty much already covered by the all titanium bolts category. Yes, you still do the big infinite jump skip, but you also visit every planet. And if it's the big skip you don't like, you can just do the old route without it. Additionally, there's the 100% category that does every planet but split across NG and NG+. Obviously that one's a lot longer though.
I like the thought but I think it might just share too much with ATB. :/
I know someone's working on a "Reverse Skill Order" run where you start with all the skills and lose each as you go to its skill tree, the goal being to end the game with none (or a minimum) of the skills, but I think it's still a ways out from being a reality.
A NG+-type of run like what you're talking about could maybe be interesting, although I'm worried it might end up being a tad boring since you'd basically just go directly to Sunstone and then Horu. If you want to discuss further though it may be easier to join the Ori Discord server since everyone checks that a lot more often (a link is on the forum).
The last two times I've checked back here to try to improve my time/find new strats there's been a different WR without a video (the current video is an invalid link; likely a past broadcast that was never highlighted). It kinda sucks not being able to see what the top runners are doing to save time when all I wanna do is learn. Has requiring video proof ever been considered? If so, what was the reasoning against it?
Thanks!
Seems as good a time as any to mention too that you can update your notification settings for individual games to receive a notification/email whenever people upload new resources (and perform several other actions)! Unfortunately you can't for the series-wide forum (this one). You alter these settings globally in your profile, or on a per-game basis by clicking "Follow settings" in the sidebar of each game.
Thanks for the resources Timmi!
To provide a little context, we were actually going to separate Re:CoM and Re:CoM HD at one point. I believe it got put on hold due to insufficient test data regarding loads, but I'm not sure. We'd of course be happy to revisit separating the two, at which point we could open a discussion about allowing BC PS3s on Re:CoM. But I think to err on the safe side currently we would have to disallow BC PS3s for Re:CoM until we can get some hard data, like Rebel said.
We're going to take care of the updating (mainly KHfan since he volunteered), but it also wouldn't hurt to update your own if you want to speed the process along. You should be able to edit any current PBs. I think we should also probably add a comment on any runs that start their timers at the old timing.
Just to add one last thing to this: outside of discussions about routing, rules, categories, etc., it doesn't take much to be a mod. I don't have to know a lot about Re:coded to verify a run for it, for example. I just have to know where the timing begins and ends and look for any obvious problems. So any mod can (and does) verify any run, which is 90% of what we do.
I mean, we waited for 2 weeks of silence to enact video proof in order to be sure everyone got a chance to voice their thoughts/concerns, but it's up to you all. I'd make sure to spread the forum post around if you haven't.
Am I the only person who likes the current method where you start the timer after choosing "Yes" to skip the Tutorial to start new game? :/
No, as myself and a couple others have said you're not the only person who prefers the current timing method. But right now the clear majority seems to prefer character select. I mean if it were up to me there are a lot of things I'd want to change about BBS rules, but these decisions are and always should be community-based.
I'm just saying, if it were me, the way I would word it is this:
Hey mods, looks like there may be an issue with the way Vid-Comic ILs were set up. I believe you want to make IL categories of "Any%" and "All Tokens," and then add the 5 comics as the ILs themselves. Feel free to contact me if you need any further assistance. :) Thanks!
Not
ok <mod> doesn't know what he's doing <picture> LMAO
You don't need to "give context to your post" for future readers because if someone fixes it and comments, that's all the context they'll need.
For the record, we wouldn't make a decision on this while the thread is still active. We generally wait a few days for a thread to be silent to then tally up those in favor of the various proposals. So even if that strawpoll is leaning one way at the end of the day or something, we'd still give it some time so everyone can make their voices heard.
For the people saying "it doesn't need to be a separate category, it just needs to be two tabs under RoD RTA," that is a separate category. We use subcategories fairly often and consider them to be separate categories. If the decision were to split the categories, it was always (probably) going to be splitting them as subcategories. For example, Aqua vs. Terra vs. Ventus are all considered different categories; we just use subcategories to keep things cleaner. Same with the difficulties.
Just figured I'd clear that up.
so about the yes or no for save corruption variable, If i did a run with save corruption and another run without save corruption, Would i have two pbs in the same leadeboard?
You could, or could not; it's up to us to decide. We can either make the variable obsolete worse runs, or make them both stay there distinct. I think, for the purposes of discussion, the variable should probably obsolete runs and if we wanted to not obsolete them, then a subcategory is probably the way to go.
More people would probably run 2.5 too if English weren't an hour slower than the original KH2FM on PS2. Luckily, 1.5 made KH1FM significantly faster due to cutscene skips.
